Laurel (laurelstories) We have two dogs. One is a shih tzu and the other is a crossbreed of labrador and golden retriever. And just weeks ago our family was blessed by another labrador! It’s funny how the labradors are afraid of the little shih tzu. Those dogs make us so happy and they are all so sweet. ❤️

message 753: by Laurel (new)

Laurel (laurelstories) We used to have a bunny, a hamster, fishes and even a monkey as pets. But we’re already contended to have three sweet dogs in the family.

Sometimes, cockroaches, lizards and cats visit the house too.

I also have a friend who can speak to plants.

Do you have any siblings? Tell us about them!

message 765: by Hallie (new)

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments I have an older little brother whom I claim I hate but secretly love to death. He is almost 26 with a good job that pays a decent salary, is intelligent blah blah blah, but to me, he is always my idiot brother who has the mental age of 2, and behaves like a dog, and of course, my partner is crime when it comes to annoying the rest of the world. To be more precise, he is my physical and verbal punch bag: poor guy always gets insulted by me. While we have contrasting tastes and interests, unlike the stereotype of siblings, we don't actually fight a lot and get along so well that people get surprised. Whoever thought of the idea of putting us together as siblings made the best decision ever. No sarcasm intended.

2 brothers, 2 half brothers, and a half sister.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments I have two younger sisters. Growing up I was always hard on them because I wanted to see them excel in life. I didn't want to see them make mistakes like I did. We were pretty close, since we were homeschooled together. We had our moments but usually were great. I am particularly close to my youngest sister. She's five years younger than me but due to a young growth spurt (she is 6 ft tall now) a lot of people thought we were twins growing up. I don't know that that assumption has really changed, to be honest. It's not uncommon for people to think I am the younger of us, or at least closer to her age than I am. But we have been close for basically as long as I can remember. I have memories of her coming to me when she had nightmares, or of us curled up under a fort as I read to her my favorite books before bed. Growing up dad was always at work and pursuing businesses on the side (that always failed), while mom was a stay at home mom and aspiring writer who seemed to be somehow more and more distant and manipulative as time progressed. Like I love her to death but looking back I realize how lazy and self centered she is. My middle sister takes after her a lot. She has the sweetest smile and clueless expression, so a lot of people love her, but we got into so many arguments about her not stepping up to the plate and helping out more. I have less of a relationship with either of them over the last few years since moving out and them going their ways, but I'm closer by far to them than to any other family. The youngest is now 18 and married to a guy 10x more broken than I became from the shooting (we were both students there and we actually shared a couple classes at times. Who would have guessed he'd end up marrying my sister?), but he makes her happy and is anchored by her. She hasn't decided on her future path, but she has time. My other sister I am actually proud of because she recently took the leap to move out from my parents into the city to pursue flight school. Honestly, we all thought she'd wound up more of a trophy wife to some stuck up highly religious dude. Well, everyone but my parents thought that, that is. She is very pretty, but over time I'm slowly seeing more intelligence and real world experience creep into the picture. (Thank goodness)

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments Holy smokes I typed more than I thought I did. Sorry. That seems to be a trend with me...

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments ....my dude owns a copy of Mein Kampf. Haven't read it personally but he is a huge history buff and wanted it for collecting and owning a piece of history. He is not in any way racist or Nazi. He got one of the really old editions too. I don't remember why but he specifically wanted an old one. Idk. All I remember is it was expensive. -_-

And I'm reading LOTR right now. XD

I don't actually have a least fav book. I bet if I gave it more thought I could come up with something. Closest I can think right now is The Elite by Kiera Cass. I'm nearly done listening to it on audio but when I'm done it is getting one star review. It is terrible. Like I feel like you can make a drinking game out of her wishy-washy emotions. Or when she starts crying. Like omg it's terrible.

i asked this question and i have no idea what my answer would be... i would say something religious, maybe some sort of scripture, but that wouldn't be right. i feel like scripture is pure and it's people's interpretations of it that make me hate it.
i want to say something that would be an obvious choice, like how angel said mein kampf, but i've technically never read it cover to cover, so does it count?

i think i'm gonna go with this YA book i read a few years ago. it's called Red, and basically is about a society where you're only considered a "person" if you have naturally red hair. everyone else is trash. so it was a cool concept, i thought it would be allegorical to racism, but it was actually just a really dumb book.

message 790: by [deleted user] (new)

Ugh umm I don't really have one but the stupidest book I've ever read is Perfect You by Elizabeth Scott even though I love it...

I'm probably going to get a lot of backlash for this, but...

Divergent. Not just book 1, either - the whole trilogy was a tryhard Hunger Games wannabe and overall a hot mess. Tris was such a submissive brat, the world-building made no sense ((view spoiler) [indirect Allegiant spoilers]), and I was bored the entire time. The only redeeming quality of the entire trilogy was (view spoiler) [direct Allegiant spoilers]; other than that, I utterly despised it. At least Collins made her trilogy somewhat enjoyable.
