I love the rush at work (as long as the customers are reasonable). Ill be a coordinator this year so it'll be an interesting experience :) otherwise I like the strangely fresh and magical feeling. We don't really celebrate it much at my house since my husband hates Christmas but it's still a time to give and get gifts, spend time with family, and break from the usual.
Though I will say I despise the consumer focus and waste of the holidays.
Anyway, New Years is actually my fav holiday so I'm looking forward to that.

Thanksgiving. All 8 of my siblings are here at the same time, and we take pictures for like 2 hours which is torturous but I don't know what I would do without it.

My favourite thing about winter is that it is what I connect to most out of all the other seasons. I love the first part of winter the best.

message 705: by Alexw (new)

Alexw I live to ski so winter is very welcome. My favorite places to ski are Big Sky, Montana and Sun Valley, Idaho where one of my favorite authors is from-Hemingway.
Hope to see you on the slopes !!

My favourite thing about winter is the fact that it's cold and I can wear my hoodies throughout the day without Mum 'feeling hot by just watching me wear it'.

Either near Portland or abroad somewhere. Maybe like England or France or New Zealand. Somewhere different where my carbon footprint would be much smaller but I'd still have some developed world luxeries, be able to travel, make a difference, etc...

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I think Iceland would be a really cool place to live.

How do you feel about subtitles?

message 731: by [deleted user] (new)

I grew up in an insanly loud house so subtitles are usually my best friend

message 732: by Hallie (new)

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Whilst my house isn't that noisy, my neighbours keep the volume of their TV at maximum; the couple fights over asinine things louder than the TV, the eldest kid tries to grab their attention by yelling louder than that and the younger one wails all the time. And sometimes the grandparents contribute to the noise pollution. So basically, if not for subtitles, I wouldn't be able to watch whatever I'm watching.

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I don't really care. I'm used to them because my middle brother always watches stuff with them put on and nobody ever takes them off since it's too much trouble, so I just watch stuff with them on and it doesn't really bother me.

Jaxon(Jax)[They-He] | 4642 comments My family always uses subtitles when watching tv

We always use them when we can. I grew up with them always on and it's nice having the text there

I like subtitles. I usually put them on when I want to clearly want to pick out what the speaker has said. I like to judge on what they actually saying especially if it is one of my favourite shows. In some shows I might hear something incorrectly but when I put subtitles it makes more sense. I don't always put it on. If I am watching something more than 3 times I don't often put it. I think subtitles are great.

Note that there are two kinds of subtitles. E.g. ones that appear on the news articles. I like them also.

I love them I use them because it's easier for me to follow because I have a hard time understanding what is being said without the subtitles.

I use them when I'm seeing anything... It helps me a lot, even though I have sharper hearing skills than most of my family

Mystic Orange (Rumell) (rkrespectedmember) | 1488 comments I actually have sharp hearing nothing misses past me.

message 742: by K.C. (new)

K.C. Nicola | 184 comments When it comes to nearly every non-musical form of entertainment, I'm a reader, not a listener, so I greatly prefer having subtitles.

same, if it's just listening to music it's fine but when I'm watching a movie or something, it's easier for me to follow when I have subtitles on.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments I do!
I have a pit/lab dog named Fenrir. He is a little over a year with gold fur. He loves people and his favorite thing ever is chasing a lazer pointer. Otherwise he loves tug of war and jumping in circles while he swings his toys around.
My 9 month old dog is Kira, a German Shepherd/ border collie mix. She has cute huge ears and has mottled black/grey fur except for a white chest and socks. She's a cuddler who likes eating and loves chewing on bones.
Then I also have a 4ish month old kitten named Majora. She has semi-long calico fur. Sorta. She kinda looks like her fur length goes from shorter near the face and gets longer by her tail. It makes her look sooooo fat and cuddleable. When she rolls over its all long, soft fluff sticking out everywhere. <3 Also her legs are stripes but her torso and face calico. Anyway, she's a rascal. She loves to climb curtains and will play with anything and everything she can. But when she's tired she'll just walk over and snuggle in as close as possible, purring up a storm. I swear she gives more kisses than the dogs do. Sometimes when I'm trying to sleep she'll keep crawling closer and closer to my face, kneeding gently on the blanket with her paws and searching for any exposed skin to give kisses. XD
