Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments Oh, thank for reminding me about this one! I'd put it in my TBR pile but I already had 10 books with K.U. so I couldn't get it then. There's room now, and I see lots of high ratings (with reservations) so time to grab it!

And well done on being up to #47!

message 106: by Elin (new)

Elin Eriksen (vaarin) | 545 comments I just read 48 and ended up at the same rating as you but I wonder, in retrospect, if I was a bit generous because I loved the premises rather than the actual story...

message 107: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1321 comments Yes, the premise was a good one but definitely needed some development in my opinion.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1321 comments 49.) Decisions 3 stars

message 109: by Elin (new)

Elin Eriksen (vaarin) | 545 comments Thought I had your 49 on my TBR so I read your review but it was Deception I had on my list... Sounded like a lovely ending though.

message 110: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1321 comments Who is Deception written by? So many books came up when I typed that title in.

message 112: by Elin (new)

Elin Eriksen (vaarin) | 545 comments As Debbie says, it is also by Ola Wegner but it has not tempted me to read it yet...

message 113: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1321 comments I find that I have read Deception: A Tale of Pride and Prejudice.

message 114: by Debbie (last edited Feb 18, 2018 11:31AM) (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments I liked it a lot when I first read it, but there's been a much better crop of JAFF that's emerged since then. Because it didn't have a lot of competition (at least none I was aware of), I remember it very clearly. I probably would've given it 5 stars back in 2012, but if I were to re-read it today, I might have trouble even giving it 4 stars!

message 117: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments You just keep banging them out, Sheila! Excellent!

message 125: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 201 comments Gosh Sheila you're flying! I'm not very active on GR at the moment. As well as my usual driving duties, I'm in and out to the hospital as my mother has been a patient for the last two and a half weeks. Things haven't been good but she's a little better today. She has heart failure and she's eighty seven. So it's one day at a time.
I'll be back full tilt as soon as I can. I miss my daily connection here.

message 126: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments Hey, Teresa! We miss you too. Sorry to hear your mom's been ill. At that age, "one day at a time" is right. Mine was 95 when she died. Fortunately for me, my brother and his wife lived about a mile from her Independent Living Facility, so they did the heavy lifting when she had doctor's appointments or got hospitalized. Hard to watch a loved one slowly decline. My prayers are with you.

message 127: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) What a difficult time you’re going through, Teresa! So hard to watch a loved one in that situation, when you can’t “fix” it. My thoughts are with you.

message 128: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 201 comments Thanks so much Debbie. The like of that generation will never be seen again. Nearly all of my mother's family were in their late eighties when they went. Her brother died two years ago and he was one hundred and in very reasonable health. She has one sister left and she's ninety four. The baby of the family is still going strong too at eighty four :-) Just the three of them left out of eleven.

message 129: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 201 comments Thanks to you to Abigail. I know I'll always find comfort here.

Thank you. You do continue in my prayers. I will add your mother to the list.

message 131: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 201 comments Thank you Sheila. I have so many people on MY list I just say 'list' now when I'm saying my prayers! Hope you're keeping well yourself.

message 132: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1321 comments Yes, besides my own relatives (my brother has the same brain cancer as McCain/Beau Biden) I have copied the church's list onto my saved Prayer list. I don't have them all memorized but I do take a moment to pause and think about each as I say their name so it doesn't become a rote exercise.

message 133: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Sheila, I’m so sorry about your brother! What a terrible thing. I feel for your pain and his.

message 138: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments Sorry about your brother's illness, Sheila. Even though I'm 63 and the youngest in my family (by a lot), all my brothers continue to be in good health. We're not particularly close, but I know it would hit me hard if any of them had serious health issues. I'll keep yours in my prayers.

message 139: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 201 comments Us also Debbie. I'm 55 and the eldest and I have three brothers. The first three of us are very close in age. So far we've all had very good health.
Sheila I'm keeping your brother in my prayers now along with yourself.

message 140: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1321 comments Thank you for your prayers. They have no children so I know this is hitting his wife even harder as there is no one there in the house as she has to take care of him.
