I couldn't resist. I had to see what Discovery was about. This Jane POV and perspective was really cute. I am almost finished. I finally had to go to bed so I am about to see how everything ends. Wow!

283.) Secret Marriage by Tamsin: 45 chapters and an epilogue. The author’s work seems to be that of someone whose primary language is not English, in grammar, in spelling and in the quality of prose used. Over 350 pages this Regency JAFF/P&P has much angst. There is a young girl, 5 years old, beaten and left by the roadside who is found by Mr. Bennet and reared along with his daughter. He dies and his wife remarried. She dies and her husband remarries. Unfortunately it is to the Mrs. Bennet we all know who in this variation spews even more hateful words at the foundling and treats her so badly that even Kitty and Lydia try to protect her. Then Mr. Bingley moves into Netherfield. And Darcy is intrigued by this Elizabeth, finding himself draw to her and finds a spirit of deja vu tormenting his mind. In this tale he also handles his attraction to her in the worse possible manner as she attends a ball on the arm of her "adopted" uncle (His wife is sick and stays home.) and Caroline Bingley spreads gossip that Elizabeth Bennet is under his "protection".
The Fitzwilliam side of the family have much to answer for in this tale. It does have its dark moments. The author spins an imaginative story for many of the character...missionaries to Africa? Bedlam? Anne and "that perpetual bad boy"? Even the comeuppance each actor is dealt is highly creative. This was a 4.5 star read for me.

Darcy accidently overhears Charlotte & Elizabeth talking while he is resting up in a tree! He climbs down and requests to speak with Elizabeth privately. Love how he handles each of her points about his character.
Actually, I looked back at "books read" and I had read this one before but it was just as enjoyable the second time.

Note that it does say “the newlywed Elizabeth” and “the still-unmarried Mr. Darcy. I read this even though I really hate the idea of Darcy never marrying Elizabeth. I have read stories before in which they are married to others but in the end they always are together. Thus for me it was only a 3 star production.

Sheila, I tried reading #291 and couldn't finish it. I found the language very modern and it got way too crude and extremely graphic. You warned me but I didn't heed the caveat. I'll listen next time.
