Bosch defines a case where the detective has a personal stake in it as a burning room. Did you get how it applied in the story and why it would have this name?

I thought it was akin to that fire having the potential of consuming you to your detriment. I think without Harry’s help, Lucy may have toiled endlessly for a long time.

In some ways, these cold cases are like burning rooms for Harry. He’s relentless with them, even though he has no personal attachment.


Lauren (laurenjberman) For me the title related both to the idea of a detective being consumed by a case (something Bosch is familiar with) and to Bonnie Brae fire, which was such a defining moment of Lucy's life.
