Bosch defines a case where the detective has a personal stake in it as a burning room. Did you get how it applied in the story and why it would have this name?

I thought it was akin to that fire having the potential of consuming you to your detriment. I think without Harry’s help, Lucy may have toiled endlessly for a long time.

In some ways, these cold cases are like burning rooms for Harry. He’s relentless with them, even though he has no personal attachment.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2239 comments For me the title related both to the idea of a detective being consumed by a case (something Bosch is familiar with) and to Bonnie Brae fire, which was such a defining moment of Lucy's life.
