ABANDONED. Time travel book with a old fashioned western sheriff

Hi All - hoping you can help me out with this. I read a Harlequin romance around 1980. I believe it was the red covered Harlequin. Somehow, an old western sheriff (gorgeous of course) comes from 200 years prior into modern times and falls for a modern woman. I believe most of the book took place around Christmastime. It has always been a book I think about fondly and would love to re-read it again. Would appreciate your help. Thanks!
