Andrea, it was amazing. I am not sure how to review it so I haven't tried yet and am waiting a couple days to let it sit and simmer in my thoughts. I will be buying part 2 ASAP. Amazing read.

Yes!! Very much like "Reading Lolita in Tehran" was for me - I still think about that book years later. I expect that will be the case with Persepolis as well.

YAY!!! Joy has already read it and liked it. I am anxious to begin but am struggling with book hangover from Nora Webster.
A note about my current reading selections - I am having huge problems with my eyes right now. Reading has become not fun because of it. I am so grateful that I got over my funk about audiobooks and have embraced that way of "reading" because I am starting to rely on it WAY more. Due to the current issues, I am looking for audiobooks for all the books that I currently own IN PRINT. So if it says "read what you own", I own that book in print form of some kind and either the print is too small or my eyes are killing me and I just cannot deal. It looks like I am reading a ton of books but 10% of three audiobooks a day isn't really that bad. :-)
Dawn Michelle wrote: "O M GOSH! If you are looking for an amazing book with mystery and intrigue and the underworld of Mumbai, Inspector Chopra is IT!!! WHAT a very great read!!!!!!"I just finished it, too and liked it. If you like mysteries from India, then you may like The Case of the Missing Servant (Vish Puri, #1) by Tarquin Hall.
"The portly Vish Puri is India’s most accomplished detective, at least in his own estimation, and is also the hero of an irresistible new mystery series set in hot, dusty Delhi. Puri’s detective skills are old-fashioned in a Sherlock Holmesian way and a little out of sync with the tempo of the modern city, but Puri is clever and his methods work." ~Goodreads blurb
I think I liked this one a little better than inspector Chopra.

Dawn Michelle wrote: "OMGOSH he sounds like the Indian version of Hercule Poirot!! HOW hilarious!! I will absolutely check him out! Thank you!! "I never thought of him in that way but yes that sounds right... I think I need to bump up the next book on "To Read" list.
I think I might have another book you would like... A Most Peculiar Malaysian Murder (Inspector Singh Investigates #1)
A Most Peculiar Malaysian Murder (Inspector Singh Investigates #1) by Shamini Flint . I really liked that one too.

I just saw something about this one somewhere; I am adding it because 2 recommendations cannot be wrong. :-)

*** I own this book on Audible, but do not have it on the kindle. I had to get it from the library because TRUST ME, there are moments when you will be listening and going "WHAT did he just say [Like what he said " I put on my "kaar-key uniform". I had to look that on up to realize he was saying Khaki]?? But I am counting this as read what you own because I have it on audible.
