Holli I do! I like to multi task like that :)

Cyn | 263 comments hahaha

Blue Hummingbird (bookdragonblue) | 13 comments I read just about everywhere I can. I like reading on the road (Im obviously the passenger,) I also like to read on my couch late at night, the house is quiet and nothing disturbs me.

message 54: by Kellyyyylynne (new)

Kellyyyylynne I carry at least one book with me wherever I go because you never know when you are going to have a few moments to read or get stuck waiting somewhere. On Sunday's I love going to Starbucks and curling up in one of their comfy chairs with my latte and a good book for a few hours.

message 55: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Kelly, Starbucks sounds fun!

I also have a book with me all the time. I read on my lunch hour at work, while waiting at appointments, etc. I guess my favorite place to read is in bed or in the comfy chair in the family room (if I can get Jeff out of it!)

message 56: by Sadie (new)

Sadie I always have a book with me and read anywhere and everywhere. On the subway on my way to work, waiting for a friend, in bed at night, on my front stoop. But my favorite place to read is on my sofa under the huge two windows in the living room of my apartment on a lazy Saturday or Sunday. Nothing beats it.

message 57: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (missfryer) | 533 comments I read anywhere and everywhere!
Some of my favorite spots include the bathtub, the couch, the front porch, my parent's house, my childhood bedroom, my bed, the car (red lights only), work.

message 58: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Harris Red lights only! I love it that you clarified that. Doesn't it stink when the red light's too short!

In the hosue, it would be in front of my wood stove in the cool monts or on the back deck in warm months...always in bed before sleep..."

I read while watching TV too!!! I used to love commuting on the train, I got so much reading done! (Can't read in a car, I get horribly ill).

message 60: by Lekeshua (new)

Lekeshua I do most of my reading in bed because it's the only place I can escape and my son and husband and they can have bonding time. I am hoping when the fence is completed in my backyard and someone buys me a hammock I will do some reading out there while the kids are playing. I also read at work during my lunch. On select occasions I read while the TV is on when my son is napping on Sundays.I am looking forward to maternity leave in three weeks so that I can love on my new addition and read all day. If only I could do that for a living.

message 61: by Kate (last edited Nov 17, 2009 07:32AM) (new)

Kate | 96 comments I love reading by (or in!) a body of water: by a lake, in the tub, by the ocean...

I also love "reading" books on tape on my iPod while taking long walks.

message 62: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (nljerseygirl) | 26 comments I read mostly in the bathtub these days, after I put my 20 month old to bed I settle in for a nice soak and a good read before I go to bed for the night. I also have a corner of the couch reserved for reading, it's comfortable and the light is good :)

message 63: by Eve (new)

Eve (eve_lyn) It seems like I read anywhere. I always have a book with me and now that I have an iTouch, I pretty much whip out a book, physical or otherwise, whenever I have a bit of time: waiting in line at the post office, in a cafe, waiting in line for a flu shot, in the car as it warms up in the morning, as well as in bed or on the couch.

message 64: by Lisa (new)

Lisa My fav spot is a corner of the sofa in my family room. I love to read in bed but once I get there my brain starts to tell me it's time to get to sleep so I never get as much reading done there.

message 65: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (missfryer) | 533 comments I reallllly need to get an iPod.

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

I read in bed and on the subway. I'm to distracted by my pets to read anywhere else.

message 67: by Renee (last edited Nov 19, 2009 05:04AM) (new)

Renee (readingexercising) | 2 comments I read everywhere. I always have at least one book with me, usually two or three because I never know what I am in the mood for. I do a lot of reading in front of the TV. But I have to sit in my car while kids play sports etc, so I do a lot of reading like that. I just got a Sony Pocket Ereader for my birthday.....can't say how much I LOVE it. Slips in my (small) purse and multiple books on hand!!!!

When I used to work, I always read during lunch. Sometimes, the mornings would be crazy because I would be scrambling to find a book and if I could not before I ate lunch I would have to run to the bookstore (used). I would never go out for lunch with the girls, but would rather sit in my car and read.

message 68: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) Holli - I read while watching TV too!

I love to multi-task, so I read pretty much anywhere and everywhere.I read while I'm eating, waiting for appointments, in between classes, blowdrying and straight-ironing my hair, waiting for the kids at the bus stop, and on my couch while I'm sitting next to my hubby watching TV. In fact, I'm so used to reading while I'm doing something else, that I don't like to just sit and read. It feels like I should be doing something. I also listen to audio books while I'm driving in the car.

message 69: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Dilloway (margaret_dilloway) | 7 comments I always take a book in my car and read while I'm waiting for my kids to get out of school at pick-up time. And while my husband's driivng and at the dr's office and places like that.

If I'm into a book, I'll read it nonstop. Very very dangerous.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 369 comments I read just about anywhere. I always have a book or two in my purse. I also am a big reader during tv shows..especially when my boyfriend is watching football games or something. I like sports but I prefer to read and watch the games.

At home, in the winter, I tend to read on this really comfy chair in front of my fireplace. In the spring/summer, I prefer to read outside on our patio.

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

Now that I have my BlackBerry with Mobipocket on it there is not a place I do not read (except for the bathroom... there was a mishap with drawing a bath for myself... :o!) I do have hardcopies that I can read in the bath, but I prefer my blackberry... I read on the bus, I will read in line at the grocery store if it is busy and I have to wait, I will have my nose in my blackberry pretty much anytime that I am not a) at a social function, b) Out with Byron, C) at work or driving and d) in the bathroom.... lol, I'll have my nose pressed into my blackberry while waiting for the ATM, ect... it's BAD!

message 72: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (countrygarden) | 95 comments I always have a book with me. I read while I wait for the kids, read at lunch, always read before bed, if I wake up in the middle of the night. I don't really have a favorite place to read, just as long as I have a book.

message 73: by Amanda (new)

Amanda I carry a book in my purse at all times so that whenever there is a spare minute I can get some reading done. I find I buy so many books I can't keep up with them so I have to try to read as much as possible. I read mostly on my lunch hours but also in the car, coffee shops, in the bath, in bed...rainy days curled up on the couch with a great book and some coffee are the best! Coffee and books seem to go together perfectly :)

message 74: by Misty (new)

Misty Rainy days are THE BEST for curling up in a comfy chair or in bed with a warm quilt. Love it! I read while in line waiting for the kids to get out of school, while my son is in dance class, after the kids are in bed, I listen to books on my iPod while exercising, cleaning house, or sewing/crocheting. I love to read in my comfy chair on Friday nights while my hubby is playing WoW or also reading. I was the annoying kid on campus in college who would walk to classes with her nose stuck in a book and would read until the very second the professor started talking! LOL.

message 75: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) | 19 comments I read wherever I can. I carry a book with me everywhere and pull it out during any down time I get. Usually I read in the morning before work, on my lunch break & on the train ride to work (although I've been driving a lot lately so that cuts out a lot of my reading time). I also keep an e-book on my computer at work to read whenever I don't have any work to do (but don't tell my boss!). I annoy my roommates by reading during commercials when we watch tv too. If I'm not at a good stopping point I make them pause it (thank goodness for dvr) until I'm done.

message 76: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) | 212 comments I read anywhere and everywhere! I always carry a book with me, just in case :) My favorite places to read though are curled up in bed or downstairs on the couch with a blanket and some hot cocoa (during the winter) or outside underneath our big tree (during the summer). I can read anywhere and with any noise level, so as long as I have a book, I'm good to go!

message 77: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (aquariusnat) I usually read at home , but sometimes go to a coffeehouse too .

message 78: by Ulrike (new)

Ulrike Where do I read? You have to be kiddin'...anywhere I can...I just about "always" carry a book with me...you can depend on seeing me with either a book or a pen and paper in hand or both! Most people think I am crazy...my family has got use to me but for me it's just life...you know like breathing.

message 79: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (starshinejen) I'm with you Ulrike - I always carry a book to read, a pen to write with and a book to write in. Recently was reading on the train and hurried off the train, leaving my bag behind. Fortunately, the bag with book, pen and my notes handed in at Lost and Found. Unfortunately the purse and iPod had disappeared. Have made a note in my writing book that I must pay more attention to travel and less attention to reading and writing on trains!

message 80: by Dolly (new)

Dolly (dollya) I am so glad to read that so many other people bring a book everywhere with them in case they need something to do. Sometimes people look at me like I'm crazy carrying a book with me all of the time, but what can I say, I love to read!!!

message 81: by KC (last edited Feb 08, 2010 10:52AM) (new)

KC Jacobsen (kcjacobsen) | 5 comments I live on a 45 acre plot of land, and out pretty far there's an old tractor that I love to sit on and read. It's great because I don't have to worry about noise or being bothered by my siblings. When I don't have time to do that, or the weather is nasty I just read anywhere.

message 82: by Lynne (last edited Feb 08, 2010 12:33PM) (new)

Lynne | 46 comments Holli wrote: "I read everywhere too! Appts, lunches out alone, at home on the couch while watching TV, at night before I go to bed, in the morning before I get up, in the bath tub.... everywhere! LOL"Me too, Holli! Everywhere! In the tub, at stoplights. My car is full of books, I have one in my purse, in my desk a work. My motto( and the boyscouts) is always be prepared(to read).
I read mostly on the couch at home, rarely in bed because it hurts my neck. Sadly, I am always getting my books wet or dirty(I eat whilst reading)or the baby will get ahold of my book and tear or chew a page(he is worse than a puppy).

Lynne | 46 comments Kate wrote: "I love reading by (or in!) a body of water: by a lake, in the tub, by the ocean...

Oh wow I NEVER thought of that? How do you get them?

message 84: by Kat (new)

Kat (deskat) Mostly in bed at night, or while in a waiting room anywhere.. But if it's that captivating then everywhere... I'll take it to work and sneak a peek whenever there's down time.

message 85: by Ella (new)

Ella (ellamc) I'm an "everywhere" reader too. I grew up in a really noisy house, so reading w/ the TV on is completely fine with me, and I always keep a book in my purse/car/briefcase for the three pages I may get to read while waiting on line or to get out of a parking garage. The only thing I don't do anymore that I always did as a kid is read myself to sleep: b/c I have a tendency of staying awake all night when I do that.

message 86: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cgraceh) I'm also an everywhere reader..I got an iTouch for xmas and have found a way to download books onto it...so with my mini portable book reader, I am constantly reading...I'm close to walking into walls, that's how "bad" it's getting!

message 87: by Rina (new)

Rina (cocopajamas) I try not to read in the bathroom, but I must admit I sometimes do.

I've spent three periods of three months in the hospital over the last couple of years, and I find that reading in my room there is very effective. I never read as much as I do at the hospital. Probably because it takes my mind of the real issues, and that I have much more time on my hands, but I don't work and I don't have children, so at home I don't do much other than reading either. But in the apartment distractions always happen, like cleaning and cooking and taking care of my boyfriend who is much like a baby.

When I am at home, I mostly read on the sofa when he's at school.

message 88: by Laurie (new)

Laurie Lomax (meladylaurie) Ok.....here's my big reading dilemma. I love to read, and look forward to it all day. But most of the time I get so cozy that I fall asleep! It's so frustrating. Even if I'm sitting straight up in a chair. I can't imagine trying to make myself uncomfortable either, so don't suggest that! Reading and being cozy just go together. It has nothing to do with the book I'm reading either. Anyone else have this problem (I'm only 50!)?

message 89: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments If I'm not really 'into' a book that much I will find myself nodding off Laurie....
Now on the other hand, if I can't turn the pages fast enough cause a book is so good...I can stay up half the night reading!

message 90: by LemonLinda (new)

LemonLinda (lwilliamson0423) Maybe you are just really tired and need the rest. You might need to take a short power nap before you start reading.

message 91: by AJ (new)

AJ (anersword) | 121 comments Okay ladies, I gotta ask - how does one read in water?? i've tried multiple times but I just end up getting the book all wet and the pages crumply. Is there a trick?

message 92: by Rina (new)

Rina (cocopajamas) AJ: Audiobooks are really comfortable and relaxing in the bath tub :D But I've tried books in there too, it doesn't work for me either.

message 93: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I read sitting/laying on my bed, sitting in my armchair (recliner), on a bus/train or even at the dr
as long as its a really good book lol.

Anywhere and everywhere. My favorite spot is the bathtub, though, because my family knows not to interrupt me even if I'm soaking in there for hours.

message 95: by Holli (new)

Holli When I read in the tub or in the pool I just make sure my hands are never wet. If they do get wet then I put the book down on the edge of the tub or pool and dry them off before I pick the book up again.

message 96: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 209 comments I read everywhere too. My Kindle is my favorite thing ever since I can put a library in my purse now. Most of my reading time is done in bed or a comfy chair, in the tub, or outside on a pretty day. The only place I don't ever read is in a moving vehicle: it makes me carsick. I never appreciated audio books until I had to take a ten hour road trip the day that the 7th Harry Potter was released. Though I do get a lot of reading done in carpool lines.

Thanks Holli! I was going to try it out with my kindle which would lack the page crumply issue but after a google search there appears to be multiple theroies on it's ability to electrocute. I decided to ere on the side of caution.

message 98: by Ez (last edited Feb 18, 2010 09:23PM) (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) Mainly at home, snuggled in bed or on the couch, but I pretty much read anywhere. I take a book with me wherever I go. I read in waiting rooms, restaurants, whatever. Also, some others have mentioned it, but I will take my book into the bathroom with me, too. LOL. It is the quietest room in the house when my husband and toddler are home.

Oh, and I'm another one who reads while watching TV or movies. My husband says it's weird, but I've gotten pretty good at it!

message 99: by Marsha (new)

Marsha (earthmarsha) | 1586 comments I have found a book that is just too heavy to read in the bath -- Stephen King's Under the Dome! Oh my! My hands cramp up trying to hold it out of the water.

message 100: by Holli (new)

Holli LOL, that would be hard Marsha!
