Who did you first suspect the killer to be?

I first thoght Simon did it. I thought he did a suiced, but then I got more confused when I was reading the book. Then found out in the end of the book that I was right in the first place.

oh my gosh i gave this book like three stars because for me it as so obvious who did it, but now i am looking at how surprised everyone is and im starting to look at myself as a weirdo. i don’t know what made me think it was simon for the very beginning while everyone seems to be missing it out? like i genuinely thought it was the most obvious guess. i’m actually very proud of myself right now.

I thought Simon was alive some how and wanted revenge on the other and hence faked his death. This is what happens when you watch shows like pretty little liars.

At first I thought it was the teacher. Then I got suspicious of Addy, Jake, Maeve and even Janae at some point. Never guessed it could be Simon himself.

I first thought it was Addy. She was kind of like the innocent one. But there was a point in time when I thought it was Mauve, Bronwyn's sister. I mean, she was hacking into his account, it made sense. Then, as they started to figure out more and more I was sure that Jake had something to with with the murder. Jake was such a control freak. When Addy went to Janae's house, I knew that Simon committed suicide right when Janae started crying.

I thought it was either Addy or Bronwyn.
I thought Addy because more people in the situation were directly connected to her inner circle and Bronwyn because of her intelligence and the fact that she developed a romantic relationship with the "likely suspect/criminal Nate." Mostly I just thought it could be a fun and ironic twist.
I suspected a suicide about halfway through the book because of a hint that was dropped. I tried to write off the thought because I believed that to be a dull choice for an ending... I still think it should've been one of the main four. It's a lot scarier to me that way because we grew to sympathize and empathize with each of their inner personalities. Would've been more shocking.

Since all four main characters seemed reliable, i started to think really soon that it was Simon. And his accomplice identity, as often in mystery novels happens to be the one you'd suspect the least.... And Jake was enough an asshole to be the one. It was easy....

I thought that it was Simon as he looked very susceptible to depression and also making him the killer would result in a more dramatic effect.

I had a feeling from the start that none of them were the killer simply because that would have been too easy. I was disappointed however that it was mainly Simon’s idea. Normally the suicide route feels like a cop out when it’s not handled well, and that’s how it felt like.

I'm not going to lie, I did suspect the teacher. He was the only other one in there and no one blamed him.
But I knew it wasn't going to be one of the Bayview Four, that would be way too unoriginal!

I honestly thought it was Cooper for ages, because I had the least emotional investment in him, and also he just seemed a little colder than the others. I mean he's nice, but yeah.

Most of the book I did kinda guess that it was Simon though, because the characters really opened themselves up. And in the last quarter I knew it had to be him.

At first I thought it was the teacher! But in the middle of the book I started to think that it was Bronwyn's sister, Maeve!

I originally thought Janae killed Simon in order to stop him from becoming a school shooter.

Honestly, Simon's weird monologue in the beginning gave it away for me. But then I was so invested at Bronwyn's plot that I really thought she did it.

Is it bad I thought the whole way through, "why is no-one think it was Simon. He was there." I thought it could have been much more clever and it felt like this was an easy scape goat ending.

U thought that it was like Bronwyn, only because she is really smart so yeah. Also her parents got a fricking lawyer, if that isn't suspicious idrk what is lol...

For a while, I thought it was Addy. When you look at her secret, it just isn't as bad as the others.

If you look at the secrets of the others, Addy's just doesn't compare. Bronwyn's secret, Nate's secret, and Cooper's original "secret" of steroid use were all really bad. They broke serious rules and some were even illegal, which could have serious ramifications on their futures. Bronwyn and Cooper wouldn't be able to attend the schools they wanted if their secrets got out (assuming ANYONE admitted them), and Nate could very well have ended up in prison.

Addy's secret, by comparison, almost seems tame. Sure, cheating on your boyfriend isn't great and it's certainly socially embarrassing, but it isn't illegal. Addy didn't break any laws by hooking up with TJ. Even if her secret came out under "normal" circumstances, all she would have to do is put up with the embarrassment until graduation. Then she'd go off to college with a completely new batch of classmates and she'd be able to start over.

Since her secret wasn't as bad as the others, it conversely made her stand out and I thought she might have had a worse secret than the hook-up with TJ. One that she might have actually wanted to kill over.

I thought that Bronwyn was the killer of Simon because she was intelligent enough to do it and because no one would suspect that a bright young girl would ever do something like that.

Simon killed himself. left Jake behind to carry out the plan. after a while he fell in love with the face of the control he has on everyone. he tired to force the blame on Abby by using Jade. but Jade couldn't do the planting because Abby was really nice to her. so it was blame on Nate instead

At first I thought it was Addy, then Nate (idk why), and then I thought it was suicide... It was a wild ride for me. Didn't expect the ending tbh.

I really didn't want either Nate or Bronwyn to be the killer since they were my favorite since the start so I was kind of in denial with them. When Addy started to get all rebellious and cut her hair I kind of started suspecting about her but I never really saw any of them as the killer so I kind of suspected suicide since the start.

The idea of any of the main four having been the killer was really unlikely so as soon as we found out that Simon was struggling with depression and was posting to those extremist boards online, I suspected that it was all a suicide simply for show. It's a shame that (for me, personally) there was no shocking moment after it was revealed that Simon had planned the car crash. Yet, it was still a very hooking book

I thought that Simon made something up because hey all go in detention,and they all had Simon write gossip about them. Like,impossible it was just an accident they ALL got in detention with him. I then thought it was Jake since he was WAYYYYYYY to nice

I originally thought is was Jake, and then later on suspected Simon's suicide. I never thought is was any of the four because my friend's had read the book before me and talked about how the murderer is no one you expect! I guess that lead me to my suspicions

Well in the beginning I jokingly said that "What if Simon had killed himself" not knowning thats what actually happens.... but for a solid minute I convinced myself that it was the teacher.

I ruled out Nate because he was to obvious for it to be him since he had the whole "bad boy crimminal" background.
But for me Addy and Brownyn seemed like they couldve of done it, well for Addy she came off as to suspcious and Brownyn seemed to have the brains to do it so, yeah.

I thought it was Janae. I didn't think she was actually the murderer but that she had somehow assisted Simon. Her behavior was just so bizarre. Of course, everything was explained in the end.

I thought it was gonna be Mr Avery, honestly. The other characters weren’t suspicious to me. But as the book went, on it only just came to me that it could be a suicide.

Almost at the beginning I thought it was Leah (?), I never thought it was one of the main characters, but then my guess was sure on Maeve, she seemed like she could be hiding something and besides she had all the information coming from her sister so she could update the Tumblr posts.

I didn’t know until they received the first ‘message’ and then I thought it might be Simon because it just sounded like something that he would write.

I knew it wasn't one of the four from the beginning. I thought it was Jake or the teacher.

Simon committing suicide to frame the four was my first guess but I tried to keep an open mind and guess other characters who could've done it. It would have been weird if it was one of the four since you read the book from their perspective. I'm surprised the detectives didn't ask if Simon had depression or said anything.
