Names of characters

Is there anyone who's also struggling with the characters' names? I find it difficult to make up who is who (Apart from Rahel and Estha)!

What do you think of Roy's style?

I read the book many times,and I don't find it difficult to remember the names.
I think you'll have to keep on reading to give your mind some time settle in the book. :)

I had a little bit of trouble with names to start with. But I think it was just as I was reading a chapter every other night (so would forget things), but also it seemed there was a fair few characters introduced quickly. Perhaps it is also the names used are unfamiliar to me, so a tad harder to remember initially. Anyway, soon got used to who was who.

I agree with you about a fair number of characters introduced quickly!
I wasn't reading continuously, now that I do I find it easier to remember.

In fact God of Small Things is the exact kind of book which gets better upon the second reading; for example,the leitmotif ''Like old roses on a breeze'' makes more sense after you know what it means.These little clues make you appreciate the fact that A.Roy took much time writing and organising her story.

It is also terrific on the first reading,because it stuns and deeply moves you as everything is gradually revealed!

That's why it's one of my favourites.You don't see books like this very often...
