Firefly Lane would work for a book that deals with grief.

Could Change Everything is a song lyric from Collide by Sleeping Wolf.

Several people have agreed that insects, including fireflies, count for the animal prompt.

Lucy (plentyofpages) | 19 comments Could anyone suggest where The Secret Garden could fit in this years prompts? I already have one for childhood classic!

message 608: by Kacey (new)

Kacey | 60 comments 1. A book made into a movie you've already seen. 7. A book set in a country that fascinates you (if it does) 13. A book that is also a stage play or musical 31. A book mentioned in another book 33. A childhood classic you've never read 37. A book you meant to read in 2017 but didn't get to.

Also it could maybe fit with 40. Your favorite prompt from the 2015, 2016, or 2017 POPSUGAR Challenges

Those are all I can think of but there might be more

If it was recommended by anyone it could fulfill that prompt or if you saw someone else reading it

Haven't read any of those but going by the summaries/what I've heard about them in passing:

Wild Beauty - #12, "LGBTQ+ protagonist", #14 "author of a different ethnicity" (if you are not Latinx)

Holding Up the Universe - #10, "about death or grief", maybe Advanced #9, "about a problem facing society"

Ship of the Dead - #3, "next book in a series", #25 "set at sea", #27 "set on a different planet" (maybe - the different realms of Norse mythology could technically count) #35 "past Goodreads Choice Awards winner"

Cendaquenta | 718 comments Crumb wrote: "Any ideas for the book The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin?"

Ooooh boy, that could fulfil a lot.

#10 "about death or grief", #14 "author of different ethnicity" (if you are not Black), #27 "set on a different planet"

Prompts which are more "maybes":
#12, "LGBTQ+ protagonist" (view spoiler), Advanced #6 "an allegory", Advanced #9 "about a problem in society" (heavy themes of racism, slavery, institutionalized bigotry and abuse), and Advanced #10 "recommended by someone else doing Popsugar" because I would most certainly recommend it.

message 621: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 1756 comments I'm not 100% convinced the Broken Earth trilogy *is* set on a different planet. But I guess it's how you interpret it. I used the third book in the trilogy for an allegory. I'd also recommend it!

message 622: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherbowman) | 903 comments Dorothy wrote: "Any ideas for The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho?"

There aren't a ton of prompts for this book. Set in a country that fascinates you? It's an allegory. I seem to recall this one being a bestseller a long time after it was published. If all else fails, I'll recommend this book to you. I loved it!

message 623: by Naina (new)

Naina (naynay55) | 113 comments Does anyone have any ideas for where I can slot in The Pisces? I've already read a book for the book published in 2018 prompt, and that's the only one I can think of for this book too.

Naina (naynay55) | 113 comments Trish wrote: "Does anyone have an idea for a spot for The Rosie Project?"

It came out in 2013 -- did you graduate HS that year? It could work for that. It would also work for a prompt from the 2017 challenge -- a book with a character's name.

Well, for what it's worth I can recommend [book:The Lightning Thief|28187]. I've seen complaints about it,but I thought it was a fun book and pretty well written.

Lady Midnight has a time of day in the title, but I'm not really familiar with most of the books on the list to have many ideas.

I would recommend [book:Uglies|24770] in a heartbeat, but I also feel like I vaguely (it's been 10+ years since I read it) that there's an LGBT secondary character, although not the protagonist. I know there's also a prompt from one of the last three years about dystopian fiction, as well as one for a trilogy, which would fit in "Uglies" as well.

message 639: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1301 comments One could argue that Uglies works as a book about a problem facing society today, in the way that dystopias are often a criticism or comment on temporary society. And so is Uglies.

Favorite Color?
A Book Recommended to You (Because that may be my favortie dystopian series of all time - I have Iron Gold for my "Book Published in 2018")
A GoodReads Choice Award Winner (2014)
You could find half a dozen ways to fit it in for "Favorite Prompt from 2015 - 2017"
If I remember correctly, it might work for a "Book Involving a Heist"
A Book Set on a Different Planet
A Book with Alliteration in the Title
I think it also might work for a "Book with Characters who are Twins"

I also recommend Uglies, that kicks off my favorite dystopian series. I agree that it can also be used for problems facing society today.

The Lightning Thief has a weather element in the title, or it could be a book made into a movie you've already seen,

Lady Midnight has a time of day in the title.

If you are fascinated by Antarctica, then The Atlantis Gene can fit that prompt.

Elijah's Mermaid has a set of twins in it, according to the reviews on this book.

Based on the description, it sounds as if The Home Corner may qualify as a book about mental health.

If you don't find anywhere else to fit it, there are plenty of songs with Ashes in the lyrics.

I read it last year, and I think you could count it as an allegory. There is another prompt that I think it qualifies for, but telling you would be a spoiler. Have you been meaning to read it since last year, by any chance?
