I've belatedly joined this challenge, with the modest goal of 3 which may be reached before the weekend lol. Thank you Latasha for sharing the stories from your FB group, and Feli for making Serial Reader my new favorite thing. It's perfect reading for my commute!
It was so foggy this morning! Perfect time to listen to this. I listened to the audio link above. It’s an old timey radio show- like recording. I don’t like being confined in any way, shape or form so this freaked me the hell out. The fat man is a very interesting character. I pictured him as the bad guy from The Vampire’s Assistant lol! I’m giving this story 3 ⭐️
The Pale Man I listened to this today and I really liked it. I don't think I've read anything by Julius Long before but I'm going to see what else he's got. this is the version I listened to:https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

The Shadow by Edith Nesbitt (1905)
Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahI8K...
Edith Nesbit (1858-1924) was predominantly a writer of children’s books. Her most famous story is “The Railway Children” which I remember from the 70’s film adaption in my childhood. She influenced many famed children’s authors including C.S. Lewis and J.K. Rowling.
Fortunately for us, she also had a darker side. “The Shadow” is, in my opinion, the best of her ghost stories (yes, better than the much more famous 'Man Size in Marble' and 'John Charrington's Wedding'). It's one of the shorter stories I'll be posting this October but despite it's brevity it contains some chilling moments and an underlying dark message that just gets more disturbing the more you think about it. Enjoy!

I really liked this story & narrator. 4 stars!
Thank you Latasha, I really enjoyed that, particularly with that narrator. 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.
A Terribly Strange Bed - good fun, felt very Sherlock Holmes-esque. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've been reading several short stories on Serial Reader. Mainly Lovecraft since I had only read one of his stories before I think, and I planned on listening to Lovecraft's Monsters for Halloween and wanted some backstory. Today I finished The Shunned House which was delightfully spooky! My favorite by Lovecraft so far.
I have saved Shadow over Innsmouth to read later and it's only 10 issues. Longer than I have read so far but I tend to read more than one issue a day because they have all been too good to put off for tomorrow!

Shadow over Innsmouth is AWESOME, in my top 3 stories of all time, I listened to it on YT and am definitely due for a re'listen.

Yeah slacker! No, just kidding, school just went back today so I can finally play catch up, and I'm more than a wee bit excited there's a Montague Rhodes I haven't read before! It might have to be tonight's entertainment after work :)
I am half way through The Dunwich Horror and am absolutely horrified at the description of the thing in the library. I couldn't get it all together in my head so I googled some fanart, then I regretted it. I didn't think anything could be worse than the description of Cthulhu but I was wrong.

I would recomend a re-read, it's about half way through. The whole story is a pretty fast read I suppose, if you're a regular reader.
Jannicke wrote: "I am half way through The Dunwich Horror and am absolutely horrified at the description of the thing in the library. I couldn't get it all together in my head so I googled some fana..."Cthulhu is one scary MF, don't piss off the old ones....
Jannicke wrote: "Oh Cthulhu is terrifying, but I am more grossed out by Yog-Sothoth and his.. hybrids."Ha! Welcome to the world of Lovecraft, once you know, you can't.....unknow....
Latasha wrote: "ohh! I don't like all those lil black beady eyes!"I'm more concerned about all those friggin' teeth!!

Oh no.. Oh please no! Tentacles with mouths and suckers, eyes all over, giant formless blob of grossness.. I think I'll hide in my bed until it eats me mkbye.(Next Lovecraft to read, super short Pickman's Model: Short Story. Here's hoping for no nightmares.)

Ummmm....Pickman's Model....about the no nightmare thing......
I'm not slacking this time, there's been no updates at The October Reading Club. Meanwhile, I've been listening to stories on the Ghastly Tales Podcast. http://ghastlytales.libsyn.com/podcastI listened to -The Riddle by Walter de la Mare
The Prophet of the Black Hajj- Aaron Vlek
this one was really good cause it's really about Abdul something something- the guy that wrote the Necronomicon is the HPL-verse!
The black meal by the same guy
the shadows of Samuel craven
and last (for now) one called monsters.
I really like this podcast, the stories are usually great and the readers are too.
I listened to 'The White People' by Arthur Machen. It's had some awesome reviews but I wasn't so keen on it, especially after listening to 'The Yellow Sign' which I thought was much better.
So, I am trying to finish my challenges right now (well, those that I didn't miss out on completely like the Helloween one :-/).I've read The Boats of the "Glen Carrig", Famous Modern Ghost Stories,Faust - Teil 1, The Jungle Book and Around the World in Eighty Days for my Public Domain Challenge.
That's 5 books instead of 4, so at least I succeeded here :D
Thank you all for the challenge, it was fun :)

That's one of those weird things that keeps happening to me.....last night I was looking at my partly-read copy of 'The woman in white.' and thinking...I should put this on my read list for this month or next....
