Future of the English Language

It will become the universal language so we can all misunderstand each other equally well.

Actually, it probably will & it will continue to gather words. 100K or so will be in active use & folks will continue to worry about slang, but we'll deal with it as we have for years.

Always has been riddled with slang, always will be. But slang becomes respectable through usage.
As a living language it will change, look at the differences between Jane Austen's use and Chuck Palahniuk's.
And regional dialect will still exist even though the use of MTV English will increase globally.
