wrong series order??

The Dark is Rising The Dark Is Rising series lists this book as book 2 but on amazon it is book 1, so I had started changing them to book 1 but then I noticed it does seem that Over Sea, Under Stone was published before The Dark is Rising so it should be book 1 then shouldn't it? So Amazon are wrong? I'm confused.. help..

The Dark Is Rising is indeed the second volume in the The Dark Is Rising sequence (although it is not necessary to read Over Sea, Under Stone first).
