Help!!! Need a book for HS Summer Reading

Trying to implement a book day next year at the HS where I teach. Looking for one book (preferably non-fiction, but could be historical fiction or memoir"ish") that would be appropriate for 9-12 grade students (age 13-18). In light of current climate, looking for something about race and race relations. I teach at an inner-city, all girls high school. Currently looking at The Girl Who Fell from the Sky and The Color of Water, also I Am Malala (not really about race, but women's empowerment). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
