"Owned" field error message

Was not sure where to put this, so here I am. ;)
All of this is in Bookshelf view - that shows the list of which books you have in the shelf.
I have customized my bookshelf view so that the "owned" and "purchase location" fields shows up. When the "owned" field has not been used for a record, it shows up as "(add)". You used to be able to click on that, and it would change to a green check mark (which is the default for yes), and then allow me to enter a value in the "purchase location" field. Now, when you click on "owned" you get a red "ERROR try again" message. Now, in order for me to use these fields, I have to edit each book separately (a very time consuming process), instead of using the list to make things much quicker.
Can you fix this back? Please?
