Hilarious, Lara :D
I think we should do a different theme each time, try to outdo ourselves in wacky zaniness in how we choose the book. The more far-fetched the idea, the better.

Ready set suggest?

Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh

Dutifully input the numbers in the generator to let technology be our arbitrator and it chose Autumn by Ali Smith, which I'm sure will cater to the needs of our greatest in-house debaters

I, er, edited the date, had myself confused with January

I'm OK with February 6th, just wanted to see you all earlier!

There is only Scott Bakula embodying each and every one of us at the meeting.
What happened to us, book club ? No, I'm not crying... It's just been raining on my face.
In any case, we felt it might be necessary to rekindle the fire that burns in each and every one of us for book club, instead of letting the cat wee on its dying embers.
Maybe we need a new process? I quite liked the short-lived model introduced by René last summer—each of us picks one book we would like to read (no theme required this time) and then a random online generator selects one book out of all our suggestions.
Regarding the meeting dates, we could also go back to the dictatorial, non-negotiable way of choosing the same day, every time (for example, second Tuesday of the month).
That is to say, a little authoritarianism goes a long way.
But as in any authoritarian regime, one needs to give the impression of democracy.
So what do you guys think?
