Fantastic! In a odd way it kind of reminds me of the first few pages of a Mieville or Vinge book, the confusing time before you wrap your head around the world they're spinning for you.

Also "Beef Women" would feel right at home in Perdido Street Station, next to the insect head women. Could be best friends with Lin :)
