2018 Reading Related Resolutions

Also, 2018 is the year I get to the Mortal Instruments series. I don't think I'll be catching up or getting to the other books in that universe, but I'd like to get to that first series. See how far I get, if I feel like completing it or not.
I've got a lot of anticipated releases next year, so I don't know how much other reading I'll be getting to besides these. I also need to complete/catch up on a bunch of trilogies I started this year.
I think my big reading resolution will be to complete series that have ended! I have a shoddy list that I made this year that I hope to make pretty and actually use. I'm going to *try* not to start any new series next year. Ha. Good one, I know. But a caveat to that would if I start a new series, it will have to be complete already! Hoping to stick to this.
And of course, read the books on my shelves! Shooting for reading more off my physical shelves than buying!

I like that one! I think I am slowly trying to finish off some series, but I am still jumping around. At this rate, I will finish these series by 2020...
BTW, have you ever read the Mrs. Polifax series? She is great. I hope I am as feisty as Mrs. P. when I get to that age...

Those impulse reads get you every time... Have to watch those.

She's in my TBR! But too many books in the series so I will probably not start her next year!

I need my impulse reads. I don't like knowing EVERYTHING I'm going to read for the whole year, even though I know pretty much what I'm going to be getting to through March 2018 already . . .

Most of my books are impulse reads. I *don't* like having to stick to a list. lol. Most of my lists are pretty tentative.

I've thought of more! So as much as it pains me, I don't think I'm going to participate in Book Riot, Better World Books, or Popsugar challenges next year. I have too many books to read without trying to find books to fit categories. I'm perfectly fine with the diversity of my reading.
I went from iOS to Android over a year ago and I still have about 25 iBooks on my iPod Touch that I *will* read next year! Those will be first on my "list."
Then I have about 90 (EEP!) ebooks from RivetedLit saved as bookmarks on my phone. They're all YA so they're all 200-300 pages and I usually breeze through them. I'd like to get through at least half of them!! lol.
Lastly I'm going to try to be better about my ARCs, whether from Penguin or NetGalley. I've been pretty good with NetGalley this year, only requesting authors I'm extremely interested in. But I only read a few of them this year. And Penguin, I accept too many and then don't find the time to read them in 40 days! So less requesting.

I think you are going to be pretty busy next year...

I love reading everyone's goals! I'm going to post mine this weekend, I want to figure out what is realistic.

2. I want at least half of those to be books that were on my TBR pre-2018.
3. I want to read all of the unread digital comics I have sitting on Comixology.
4. I'm going to participate in my library's annual reading challenge again this year, but I won't know the details until their kick-off next week.

I think there are more articles out there that offer more and different suggestions like having more than one book going at a time. (Just make sure they are different genres...)
Happy New Year!

Yes, the only way I can read multiple is if they're different genres! I can't read 2 fantasy books at the same time. lol.

Well, I did constantly read 3 Kings at once in October. lol. But he's definitely got some different genres!

I gave my goals some thought this week. I have a tendancie to overcomplicate things...hahah Once of my life goals for 2018 is to simplify.
1. Read 100 books
2. Read 50/100 books from what I already own
3. Listen to audio books on my commute everyday
4. Find another 15-20 minutes each night to read or listen to a book
5. Keep up with posting books reviews
6. Participate in the Goodreads groups more often

2. Read, rate and review 75 books, starting by...
3. Completing my "bedside table challenge." Basically a Read What I own challenge, focusing on the 15 or so books currently piled up on the bedside table. One's a library book so I better keep that near the top.
4. Read one "non-North American" author a month

Great goals! Hope you see you around more often! ;)

Am doing better than I thought I was. How are you doing on your reading goals?
I'm doing wayyyy better than I thought! lol. But I did read a lot of graphic novels/less than 200 page books. But also some pretty big ones! I think I upped my audiobook game too as I started listening faster this year.
I did much better with my goals this year! I had a great reading year overall, and really enjoyed my time here on Goodreads. I think my goals for 2019 will be pretty similar.

1. I want to read 36 books (avg 3/month) that are not comics, children's books, or re-read..."
That was great. I think if I didn't have "resolutions", I wouldn't have met some/most of my goals.

I think I did fairly well with my goals this year! My goals for 2019 are going to be very similar.

Those are awesome goals!
I need to think about my goals for next year...

This year I’ll make it to 100. I wanted to do that at least once, but it’s not a feasible yearly goal for me.
In 2019, I’ll have a lot of work to do on my book and I also want to catch up on tv and movies, so I’m only setting a goal of 35. I also want to reread a bunch of favorites next year so I probably won’t get a ton of new reads done but I’d like to do some.
Not sure how many RWYO books I'll do. Maybe 10?
2019 Reading Goals
1. Read 125 books
2. Read 50/125 books from what I already own
3. Continue to use my commute to listen to audio books
4. Keep up with posting books reviews in a timely manner (at least twice a month)
5. Participate in the Goodreads groups more often
6. Try something new - finish reading some series/authors
a. Jodi Picoult
b. Anita Shreve
c. Claire Cook
d. Chris Bohjalian

I like the one about catching up on authors. I need to get on that one, though I've gotten a little better. I finally caught up on Gillian Flynn this year.

This one I started this year (finishing series) and then fell off it. I've got to get back to it next year!

Here are mine:
1. Finish ALL of the books in my "Want to Read" folder that were added in 2015 and 2016.
2. Read at least 24 non-fiction books.
3. Read more of a diverse group of books (instead of mostly mystery).
4. Read actual books that I own. Managed to read 20 this year. I feel I could do better... Let's say 22 books.
OK, those were mine... how about yours.
