Introduction and Welcome Thread

My first Heyer book was “These Old Shades” which my Mum gave me many years ago. I loved it, and over the years gradually built up my Heyer Library. I re-read them every now and then. I’m currently working through her mysteries. They didn’ t appeal to me back when I was younger, but I’m really enjoying them now.

Welcome Aussie54. I love TOS, but my all time favorite is Devil's Cub.

Yes, “Devil’s Cub” is one of my favourites too. It’s hard to pick just one favourite, though. “The Grand Sophy” is up there, too, amongst others.

I think my tastes have changed since I read the stories when I was a young teenager. Some old favourites have receded, to be replaced by others that perhaps didn’t appeal as much back then. :)

Welcome, Aussie54, glad you found us!
Oooo, TOS is one of my faves, too! And Devil's Cub and Sophy, too!
We are starting a group read of Cotillion (another fav) in October, would love to hear your thoughts then!

Just a reminder that this is the introduction thread & that not every member has read The Nonsuch.
If someone could dig up the old Nonsuch threads you could carry on the discussion there?
Thanks. :)

Have moved some of the comments there, as well.

Hi, Paullett!

I used to see my mum reading Georgette Heyer during my young years, and indulged in my first Heyer, The Grand Sophy, as an adult: Hooked!
My other 5* favourites are The Reluctant Widow, Frederica.

I'm currently trying to revisit the Inspectors books in order and will be ready to veer of with The Toll-gate in January.

Hi, Chelle, welcome!

It is always grand to meet another Heyerite!
We will be nibbling on The Toll-Gate in January, feel free to dive right in and read along with us - would love to hear your thoughts on the book in the discussion threads.

You reading The Toll Gate with the group in January?

Welcome, April!

Welcome April! & we will be reading April Lady in... April!
We are nearly half way through reading GH's Regencies in written order, so this is pure coincidence. Feel free to look through any old group reads & add your comments. :)

Ha ha. Thank you Christmas Carol. Well, HOW auspicious indeed then that I should THIS group of readers in particular here. I already read a TON of other books, so aiming for 1 Regency is probably PLENTY for moi! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Cheers and blessings,
April

My first ever Heyer was recommended to me by a wonderful librarian. It was, I think, April Lady or Sprig Muslim. I can't remember which came first and which second, possibly the very next day. After that I couldn't stop.
My favourite at first was Venetia. Now I prefer Cotillion and Friday's Child.

Hope you enjoy it here.

We are reading GH's Regencies in the order they were written. Sprig Muslin & April Lady are coming up very soon. :)
Edit: to correct the embarrassing typo I always make!

Hello Aileth, and welcome!
My favourite Heyers change over time, too, which makes them very enjoyable to re-read.
We are reading The Toll-Gate this month, and would love to hear your thoughts if you want to join in the discussion.

I read my first Georgette Heyer in 1975 when I was 19. I had just lost my mom and one of my friends' mothers lent me her copy of "The Corinthian". It was love at first sight and I've been a huge fan ever since.
My favorites are "Venetia" and "A Civil Contract".
