dany (elothwen) The largest of many Blackheart camps set up in the Alaskan Wasteland.

message 2: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) Samantha shrugged. That wasn't something she was concerned about right now; or any time, at this point.
"We'll have to see about that. So, who's the leader here? In this camp, I mean. Or is there not one?"

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosetta just shrugged, "We've all decided to keep it secret at this time. Maybe after you've stayed longer it could be different. It's just for safety purposes." This was her job, to inform all of the newcomers, well she was a group leader for the soldiers, but they rarely had to do that. This is what she did on the side.

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] "Under the stars" he said, waving a hand dramatically at the sky. "In towns, if I can help it. But I do end up sleeping in the desert more often than I like. As for which side I'm on, I work for a special interest group out of the Capital Wasteland."

"I meant Blackheart or Goldstone, silly" Eden teased in her traditional way. "And sleeping under the stars sound nice" she said dreamily. Eden loved the starry night sky, it was beautiful, enticing.

message 6: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) Samantha raised an eyebrow. "Okay. I'll find out some other way, then. Ask around. Sleep around." She laughed lightly, examining all of the soldiers and such milling around camp.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosetta gave a small laugh, "Well sleeping around might not work in your case. Only a select few know who the leader is. But then again if you need a ... Release, most of is go to Eden." She shrugged, and then turned and walked deeper into the camp. She never went to see Eden like that. Rosetta thought it was tacky.

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] Coben looked around around the camp, observing crowds of armed people in similar clothing. "I'm not sure about that." he said. "I still don't know exactly what they stand for other than open or closed borders. Besides, I already have an allegiance. In my experience you should only be loyal to one group at a time. 'A man cannot serve two masters. He will love the one and hate the other or hate the one and love the other.'"

"Understandable" Eden agreed, wiping her brow, "Is it alright if we find some shade? I am very sensitive to the sunlight out here" she admitted. Her pale skin burned so easily in the harsh light

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] "If our hostess doesn't mind us wandering around the base un-escorted" Coben said turning to look at Rosetta. He raised an eyebrow slightly. "Well?" he asked.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosetta turned back to the too, "Eden knows how to take care of herself around here." She turned her head towards Eden. "Make sure he doesn't get into anything he isn't supposed to Eden, you know the restricted areas." Her face was hard as stone, she liked to be the boss no matter how selfish it sounded.

Samantha made a face. "We'll see about that. And no...no , I don't swing that way. Usually. Unless you meant that in a different way? Though I doubt it."
This place was much more uninteresting than anywhere she'd been before; even Zion Canyon, with its tribals that hardly spoke English and practically no danger aside from Yao Guai which didn't even attack her anymore.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosetta chuckled, "What did the famous wanderer find a place were she was uncomfortable? Yes, I meant it that way, there have been girls that go to her, it happens." She shrugged, if she had lower standees she would be going to see Eden.

message 14: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) "I'm not really uncomfortable, more like bored. Are there fights often? Maybe somewhere we can duel hand-to-hand? Because from where I'm standing, this place is more boring than a fire ant's nest in December. And that means it's pretty empty with nothin' to do. Unless you can answer my questions, then there isn't much to do...to my interests, that is."

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosetta smiled,"Well we're not completely boring. We have a one on match every week. Tomorrow is the next one. If I remember correctly anyone can join." Rosetta always participated. It was a good way to loosen her muscles and to get to know her companions.

Eden smiled, "Perfect, come on" she said to Coben, grabbing his hand and pulling him in the direction of a small building. Passing through the doors, the air was immediately cooler

message 20: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) Samantha nodded slowly. "Anybody, eh? You think they'll even let someone like me in? Someone like me as in brand new to the area." she looked at her Pip-Boy screen for a moment, looking at the nearby radio broadcasts and old ones that she couldn't tune into- like the Vault intercom or Galaxy News Radio.

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] Coben allowed himself to be pulled into the structure and was relieved to find that it was at least several degrees cooler than the outside air. His Eyebot followed obediently behind. "What is this place?" he asked once they had gone through the doors.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

"I am pretty sure. I mean how do you think I gave a name for myself." She smiled slightly, and then started to walk to her tent. "If you want a nice place to sleep then you better follow. Everyone's asleep, and it's going to take a while to get you a tent." She warned her. She was new before, and she didn't have the same offer. The match was her ticket to a tent.

"It's just a place to relax" Eden said, "A place for the others to come just to get away, stop the heat, stop the onslaught of...everything, out there" she replied. There were an assortment of chairs and couches, different places to recline. "To be honest, I perform in her sometimes" she shrugged

message 24: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) ((Coben and Sam should fight in the next match just saying))

"Okay, but we're going to have to see about me getting a tent. I haven't examined the Goldstones yet." Samantha dropped her voice at the mention of the Goldstones; it's not like she trusted this lady to tell her secrets or anything, but she didn't want anyone she didn't know hearing her talking about possible affiliation with the Goldstones, even if this lady was a Blackheart.

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] "Perform?" Coben asked as he brushed off the wasteland dust and sat back in a chair. It felt nice to sit in a real chair again. Out of the blazing sun, his jacket did more to keep heat in than out. He removed it and dropped it on the floor next to his chair.

She shrugged, sitting down and propping her head in her hands. "I'm an exotic dancer as well as a psychic. Whatever pays the bills, right?" she said flatly, not knowing how he would take this information

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosetta shrugged,"I wouldn't hold it against you. I mean to me," she paused and looked around before turning to her again." It all about some fight with the leaders. Well there also is the part a about letting in strangers. I personally think everyone should be aloud to come in, I mean we all are suffering." Rosetta didn't mean to let her on her true thoughts, but she felt the need to say her side of the story.

message 28: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) "Once I meet and talk with them perhaps they can come to an agreement? I'm actually asking you, because I don't know the full relationship between you two. Goldstones and Blackhearts, I mean." Samantha followed her into Rosetta's tent, closing the flap behind her.

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] ((Coben would get destroyed. I mean, aside from Sam being the Lone Wanderer and probably a close combat master by now, Coben isn't very good up close.))

Coben shrugged. "I know what you mean. I've seen what it's like to try to survive out here. You have to use whatever skills you have." he reached into his back and withdrew a bottle of water, about as clean as rainwater in a toxic wasteland could be expected to be, and took a drink before handing it to Eden. "Water?" he asked politely.

message 30: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) ((would he agree if challenged, though? then they would fight and all but with him wanting revenge it'd get too intense and before anyone won/lost/got hurt too badly they's break it up? idk, I think it'd be fun))

Eden smiled softly at him, glad he understood. "Exactly. And yes please," she said, accepting the bottle and taking a small sip out of it, not wanting to waste what water he had. Pure water was a rare thing

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] ((Yeah, he'd probably accept just because he'd want to take a chance at "accidentally" injuring her.))

Coben put the bottle back in his bag and leaned back. "So what's it like around here?" he asked "I just crossed the border this morning and haven't really gotten to see anything. I'd heard there were places up here that hadn't been effected at all, but I was sure it was just wishful thinking."

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosetta's tent wasn't the top tent but it's fairly big, four people could sleep there if need be. Her dog slept on her bed, Molly a black lab. Her trunk stood at the foot of her bed. "Well that's a nice thought but, the feud has been going on for a whole now." She turned to Molly and patted her on the head, she began to look for extra blankets in her trunk.

"It's like the Cold War" Eden replied, remembering reading something about that in a history book, a war fought long ago. "Have you ever heard about that? It's like 'we're better than you' but never attacking, not publicly. There's plenty of assassinations though..." she frowned

message 35: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) "I suppose I'll be the judge of that," Sam mumbled to herself, looking towards the dog. "A dog. I've had two dogs. One that I've mentioned, and a half-robot dog that I haven't mentioned. That reminds me, did you still want to hear more?"

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] "Yeah, I remember something about that." Coben said. In his line of work, a lot of pre-war books passed through his hands. He tried to keep at least one copy of each to send back to the Outcasts for preservation, but a lot of them ended up getting sold to pay for food or water. "Does anyone ever find anything left from the war? I mean, didn't the Chinese invade here?"

Eden shrugged, "I think so, but no one really ques me in on that information." she bit her lower lip. "A lot of people here think I'm a fake. They don't believe what I do is real. Or, they don't like what they hear...or don't hear. And then they bad mouth me. So they don't tell me much"

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosetta wanted to say yes, but she didn't trust herself. "I'd rather not, to be honest I'm a little storied out. But if you want we can talk about in the morning. Also if something is by the door if the don't respond to you, just say Molly, and she will attack. So remember no sleep walking." Rosetta loved her dog Molly, she didn't mean to care about the damn dog, but she made the mistake of feeding it once and she kept coming back.

message 39: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) Samantha shrugged. "Just an offer. And perhaps I should mention that I'm not entirely...human?" Sam said in a corny tone, laughing lightly. Sure, lots of folks out there weren't really human do to radiation, but she...you know. Well, maybe you don't.

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] "I've seen enough crazy stuff out there in the Wasteland that I'll believe just about anything." Coben responded with a smile. "And I know the radiation has a lot of weird effects on people, so it's not that outlandish". Slowly, time sped up just enough to be noticed. Coben looked down at his hands as brushed more dust off of his pants and saw that they moved a littke slower than they shoukd have. His whole body seemed sluggish. He began to panic as a tightness formed in his chest. easy... deep breaths. Aloud he said "I'm sorry, is there an outhouse around here somewhere?" he asked as casually as he could manage, trying to keep his voice from quaking.

"Yes" Eden said, standing up and moving closer to him, "What's wrong? Are you alright?" she asked, concerned. He seemed very...off. "There's one right outside, do you need my help?" she reached down to place a hand on his shoulder.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

"Oh?" She asked, she dogged deep into the trunk and finally found the blanket. She dropped the blankets next to her on the floor. "There you can just make a make shift sleeping bag." Rosetta then went to her mirror and started to unclamp her power suit.

message 43: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) "Yeah, you know, I don't have a real brain, heart, or spine and when I was abducted by aliens who knows if they put anything in me. And I don't need that many blankets, I think I've slept on cold, dirt ground beside a campfire enough times. But that might be nice."

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] "No I-I'll be fine" he said. His pupils had constricted. should've taken more. he thought to himself. "I just need a minute." Coben stood up and made his way towards the door. "I'll only be a minute" he said as he exited the tent, stumbling slightly. The Eyebot tried to rise off of the floor where it had settled but sputtered and fell back to the floor with a clank, its repulsors making pitiful whining noises.

Eden watched him step outside, worriedly. She stepped out slightly into the sunlight, squinting to watch him. If he fell, she'd be there to help him. Something was wrong and she didn't know what, it wasn't something she could see and when she looked, he was clouded

message 46: by Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] (last edited Jul 16, 2014 07:28PM) (new)

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] Coben walked across the sun baked ground and leaned against a small structure that was obviously the outhouse Eden had mentioned. Not bothering to open the door and go inside he simply glanced around to see if anyone was paying undo attention to him, a pointless gesture in his current dazed state, and opened one of the pouches on his belt. Removing the small breath mask and doing his best to keep it concealed in his hand, he lowered his head and sealed it around his mouth and nose before hitting the button on the attached cylinder and breathing deeply. For almost thirty seconds he stood, head bowed, simply breathing in and out. His muscles visibly relaxed as time went on, and he stood a bit straighter. When he was done he slipped the mask back into its pouch and ran a hand over his face as his pupils dialated back to normal size.

Eden watched him carefully, the movements of his hands, whatever he took out of his pouch and put near his mouth. Her brow furrowed as she studied, waiting for him to head back in her direction. SHe wondered if it would be wrong to question him

Coben [Arming the strong, aiding the weak] Turning around back towards the tent, Coben didn't look up and see Eden waiting for him until he was halfway back. His step only faltered for the split-second it took his mind to assess the situation and decide that she hadn't seen anything. Probably. "Sorry to keep you waiting" he said. "I think we were talking about your business as psychic?" he said conversationally. His steps seemed almost effortless now. If I could just put myself on a 24 hour drip of that stuff. I'd be unstoppable he thought to himself.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosetta shrugged and looked at her through her mirror. "Well I mean... Would it be bad if I said I'm not surprised?" Rosetta sighed and got the rest of her armor off, and slipped into her pajamas. Which for her was a white t-shirt and shorts that she found. She then turned to Samantha. "I mean the work is so fucked up as it is, why should a cyborg be anything different?"

message 50: by dany (new)

dany (elothwen) "Nah, I just felt like telling you. But the alien thing isn't weird at all? I mean, even in a world like this, ugly little fuckers driving around in spaceships in outer space is a little weird. There were people from the 1400's up there."
Samantha thought about it for a moment, wondering if that was even real or if she took too much Jet one night.

((so is it alright with everyone that we skip to the next day when Coben and Eden are done?))
