The Hobbit, or There and Back Again
question
WHO IS YOUR HOBBIT? BILBO OR FRODO?

Who is your hobbit?
Bilbo or Frodo?
I know they are different, but which do you prefer and why.

Bilbo, I enjoyed how he handles himself in the midst of battle more than Frodo
Bilbo hands down. He's a Hobbit uprooted from his home and his creature comforts and his daily habits. He has to make snap decisions, and more often than not chooses to run away in the beginning. I actually enjoy his opportunistic nature, selfishness, complaints and his naivete more than the bravado he develops.
Pippin is honestly my favorite, but I'm going to have to go with Bilbo. . .
I think that Bilbo is more witty and funny than Frodo. THE HOBBIT was more cheery than LOTR, and Bilbo contributed to at least three quarters of that cheeriness. The thing is is that he also is pretty naive, so he's less like a real person than Frodo.
Frodo is way more serious than Bilbo. He's carrying this huge burden and most of his lines are made up of weighty decisions or something concerning the Ring. The thing I like about Frodo is that he kept going, even if he was gloomy. I sympathized with Frodo; he's easier to relate too. In the long run, Frodo is my favorite over Bilbo.
(Sam is actually my favorite hobbit because his loyalty and unwavering friendship and determination truly inspired me.)

Bilbo! b/c I didn't finish the Fellowship of the Ring. So I know Bilbo better.
I'm with Dria. Bilbo was an altogether exceptional Hobbit. With him we see much more character development, charm and delight. He is a much more down to earth kind of Hobbit. Courageous, yet not really bold (unless he had to be). Humble, yet willing to accept the good things in life. Mirthful, yet wise in his rustic way. Proper, yet able to break out of his stodgy Hobbit-of-good-standing ways.
Frodo OTOH was a Hobbit of duty and honor. Much to be admired, but we don't get as much character development with him (though we do get way more character development in the orignal than a particular **ahem** so-called movie director allowed him). He was a sadder, sterner Hobbit, as the burden he carried was so much greater.
Still, it's Bilbo who wins my heart.

For me, neither Bilbo nor Frodo. Sam wins by a huge margin. His perseverance is admirable. Both Bilbo and Frodo are lacking in that quality.
