Claire Delacroix (clairedelacroix) | 83 comments Hi - Previously, I've republished backlist titles in new editions pretty much as they were published the first time. So, they linked up on GR with new covers and all was good. This time, however, I'm making big changes to the story, the writing, and the series. So, even though way down deep the story is the same (same protagonists, same conflict) there are a lot of new scenes and there will be new books in the series.

Someone has already created this book on GR and linked it to the backlist title. Here it is:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/3...
The backlist title is:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

I don't think it's right to say this is the same book, given the number of changes. The series data is also wrong: the new book is #1 of Rogues & Angels. I just updated the cover and series info on Amazon, so it might still be perking through.

As an added twist, the setting listed for the new book is also wrong - it is 1101 but nowhere near England. Valais would be best and France would be close enough.

Is it possible to cut this listing free as if this were a totally new book, but still leave the comment in the description about the previous version?

Thanks so much for your help. I feel like I'm in a grey zone, but probably there's an excellent solution.

Dobby (dobby0390) | 7869 comments The new edition, One Knight Enchanted, was added by the Amazon bot; it needs to remain with the editions of Enchanted , as that was the original title.

I have added the Rogues & Angels series, with the new edition as book #1.

As the author, you can set the default edition — that is, the one that comes up in searches by title and shows on your author profile. Here's how to do that.

The setting displays across all editions of the book, as does the series notation. One option would be to remove England from the setting and show only the year. You could then specify the location in the description. Of course, if a librarian later adds a location, we'd have the same problem that we do now.
