2018 SFFBC Owned Books Challenge!Update
After removing all the 2018 books that I had in the list (oops), I redid my points and am currently at 3,260.
The best part is that I have read 38 books that I owned before this year. Most are from 2012 and earlier! yay! I only have 3 books left from 2010, and am currently reading/listening to 2 of them. PROGRESS!
Well done! I was doing great on bringing my number of books that I own but haven't read down at the beginning of the year. But now it has turned and I've added more books again... Oh well :D
Neptune Crossing was a really great book. Kept me sucked in. Had to stay up late to finish it. Hard scifi, which I normally do NOT read.
Finally listened to Dark of the Moon by John Sandford. GREAT crime novel! Should have read this a long time ago. I see why this author is popular. And Shoot, I have to wait until next year to read any more because I'm trying to complete my goals of reading things I already own.
Another old book from my library bites the dust. This was one bought in 2011. I didn't really enjoy it. I bought it because my sisters were such fans of Andre Norton. Ho hum for me although I really liked book 1, so was surprised book 3 was such a drudge for me. The Defiant Agents. I will put this down to JUST ME. As mentioned The Time Traders was really good. While I've started it a few times, I have finally figured out a workaround for the poor sound quality of Pandora's Star. Use ear buds/headphones and play it on speed 1.25x. Easy to understand then. The story is great, so I'm glad someone figured out this fix. John Lee sounds just as good at 1.25x as at his normal speed, but easier to understand.
Surprisingly, I have 3 different versions of the audiobook for Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. I like all three. Simon Vance, Dan Stevens and an Ensemble cast. Just like Dracula, it's a series of letters that are written home while some guy is on a trip and gone for months. I have not read this book since high school.Still listening to Pandora's Star. About 20 hours left. I can only listen to it when I'm working on something completely mindless (like removing seeds from morning glory vines) because it's a complicated plot.
Finished The Black Ice narrated by Dick Hill. I get that some folks don't like him as a reader, but he is exactly perfect for Harry Bosch. I finally finished this book almost 4 years to the day I bought it, so more progress!!It's amazing how many ebooks/audiobooks you can accumulate, unread/unlistened when you do it electronically. On bookshelves, I never accumulated more than 2 or 3 unread books/audiobooks - but I have hundreds now!! Oh well, getting them read/listened to.
Yea same here, its a lot easier to forget they are there i suppose when its ebooks... Plus I keep getting tempted by offers and can't stop buying more... Oh well :P
Still working hard on my purchases from 2011, but I know I won't finish. Several books are omnibus editions. Several are very long and one is book 6 of a series I haven't started yet. I will finish at least one or two books, but I have a couple if Christmas selections I plan to start tomorrow, so who knows.
