ok... i think that's either the equivalent of 9th or 10th grade for us, so that makes more sense. lucky you for not having them sooner... finals are hell

Today has been filled with a lot of emotions... a lot of sadness, a lot of regret, a lot of worry. I don't know what, really, to say or think... it's hard, really, to comprehend why this loss feels personal when it shouldn't. I saw a tweet earlier — "the hardest part is realizing that even though your idols saved you, you can't save them." It's not like Shinee was my ult group, or that they even had any particular sentimental value to me aside from being my alarm clock for a semester — but I can't even imagine. I can't even imagine how those people must feel, how his family must feel, how his friends must feel.
He was a pretty incredible person... talented to boot and always speaking out on things that other people were too afraid to talk about. He helped so many people, and I only wish that he had been able to get the help that he needed, too.
Thank you for your music, Jonghyun... thank you for your music, and your smiles, and all the beautiful memories you left for the people who loved you. Someone said that the greatest testament to your character is that the world is in mourning today, and it's true. You have people across the entire globe mourning the loss of an incredible man and artist.

The authorities are calling it a "possible" suicide.
However, he left a suicide note with his sister as well as one with his friend (which has, as per his wishes, been released to the public and translated, please do not read if you think you might be triggered by it), and when he was found in the apartment, there was a coal briquette on the stove and the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning. Not to mention that he never kept his mental illness/depression a secret, so I don't see how anyone believes it wasn't a suicide... I think the notes alone are enough to confirm it honestly. There's such a stigma that it might never be officially confirmed, but I think it's safe to infer that it was suicide.
Oh gosh, I hope his family and close friends are okay. Along with his fans. I hope he rests in peace <3

Today, it's been a year.
It seems everyone else has forgotten, or maybe they're trying to forget. Today, twelve months have passed. There are times when it feels like it was just yesterday, and there are other times when it feels like decades since I last saw your face.
I love you. I miss you.
To say that I always think of you would be a lie. But the times when I do think of you, when I remember the times we had together over eighteen years, the times we won't get to share in the future, the times we should have been able to share — those times never get easier. I'm beginning to believe they never will.
Last year was our first Christmas without you. This year will be our second. This year was our first Chinese New Year without you, and I think that was the hardest time of them all. It's coming up again soon, in two months. I'll still miss you then, too. I'll still love you then. It's going to be the Year of the Dog — Allie's year. She'll be twenty-four next year, and I'll be twenty. If you were still here you'd probably tell me that now I'm finally taller than you, and I'd pretend to be surprised, even though I know I've been taller than you since I was in seventh or eighth grade.

A year without you isn't the same, Grandma. Nothing ever will be again. I miss you. But I think I'm finally doing okay. You used to always tell me that even though I was the baby, you never had to worry about me. I'll continue being someone worthy of your trust.

Does grief ever truly leave? I think not...
Love people more while you still have them, forgive them, try to understand them, love them as much as you can, or else you'll be like me, and you'll never be able to let go of those regrets.
