1. Blindness is a dystopian book about an epidemic of blindness translated from Portuguese
2. The Hummingbird is a nordic noir book translated from Finnish in which Anna Fekete investigates a string of murders
3. Catilina's Riddle is a historical mystery which also involves a string of murders resulting in some headless bodies appearing on Gordianus' propety. Gordianus' son Meto os frustrated to not be trusted and kept out of important discussions.
4. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter is also frustrated to be kept out of important decisions by the Order. He forms a group called Dumbledore's Army to teach Defence Against the Dark Arts.
6. In The Taliban Cricket Club Ruksahna forms a cricket team from her brothers and friends and teaches them how to play so that they can escape Afghanistan for a new life in Pakistan
7. In The Alchemist Santiago also journeys to another country to seek his personal treasure. He travels to Egypt in North Africa
8. Purple Hibiscus is also set in Africa in Nigeria. Kambili is growing up under the eye of her strict religious father.
9. Brideshead Revisited: The Sacred and Profane Memories of Captain Charles Ryder also contains a religious and controlling parent in the form of Lady Marchmain. It follows the Wealthy Flyte family.
10. Orlando is also about a British aristocrat with apparent immortality as he lives across a variety of time periods.
11. The Time Traveler's Wife also takes place across different time periods from the 60s to the 2000s as Henry travels through time. When not time travelling, Henry works in a library.
12. In Boy, Snow, Bird, Boy works in a bookstore that acts as a library for a group of children who are not happy at school. At the end of the book, Boy finds out about her father's past.
13. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry finds out about Lord Voldermort's past and wrestles with his feelings for Ginny Weasley which he, at first, tries to deny to himself.
14. In The Time of My Life, Lucy is lying to herself and others about many things. She gets professional help to help her stop lying to the people in her life
15. In A Visit from the Goon Squad, Sasha also needs professional help to treat her kleptomania. As a teenager Sasha ran away to Naples to escape home and school life.
16. In The Exiled, Anna Fekete also wants to escape the pressure of her work in Denmark so takes and extended holiday in her hometown in Serbia, Eastern Europe.
17. The characters in The Historian travel around eastern Europe to collect clues to solve the mystery of a mysterious book
18. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows also involves the collection of items, the horcruxes, and the mystery of the deathly hallows. At the end of the book there is a big battle.
19. In A Princess of Mars there is a big battle between the tribes of Basoom. If a warrior of the tribe kills the chief, he can take his place.
20. This form of hostile takeover also occurs in the drug cartel world of The Power of the Dog. Pilar is married at a young age to Mendez and lives under protected seclusion on his ranch
21. Nazneen in Brick Lane is also married at a young age to an older man and lives in seclusion due mainly to fear and a language barrier. Her sister stays in Bangladesh and falls into the sex trade.
22. Cal in Middlesex also ends up in the sex trade when he runs away from his parents and home. He is intersex due to an unhealthy relationship between his grandparents.
23. An unhealthy sibling relationship is also present in The Fishermen after a madman stirs animosity amongst brothers making their home a toxic environment
24. The creation of a toxic home environment is also present in The Magpies where a couple are being driven mad by nightmare neighbours who want them to leave
25. Jeanette leaves her strange religious community in Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit
26. There is also a strange religious order in The Cartel where many bodies are disposed of during the Mexican drug wars
27. In The Woman in Cabin 10 a body is disposed of over the side of a boat but Laura is not believed when she reports this due to her history with mental illness
28. Many of the characters in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest are mentally ill including McMurphy who is in a contest of sorts with Nurse Ratched
29. A contest is the topic of The Night Circus. The circus travels across the world including to Germany
30. The Book Thief is set in Germany in WWI the protagonist Lisel is an avid reader with a love for books
31. The eponymous Margaret the First (Margaret Cavendish) was also an avid reader and writer underestimated by the men of her time. She was an early author of fantasy novels.
32. The Ocean at the End of the Lane is a fantasy book featuring a child protagonist
33. To Kill a Mockingbird also features a child protagonist

Last book wasWicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West about a "wicked" witch. Finished The Isle of the Lost is mostly about the villains from fair tales. Both books are about make believe characters and they are not nice

The Isle of the Lost was about villains being imprisoned on a lost island. The Enchanted is about prisoners on death row.

The Enchanted has an main character that is a priest. Because of Winn-Dixie has a main character that is a preacher.

Hi Hussain. This thread is for a specific challenge here in our group. I'm not sure what books you're looking for. Amazon kindle often has free books you can download and samples if you're unsure if you want to read it.
Other than that there are free books in the public domain, Gutenberg . org.
