LP (lp27) | 827 comments This is about a book which is not yet listed at Goodreads but whose ISBN is the same as "The Jewish Lifecycle Book". I assume this mistake originated with Amazon.

Please add the following entry (which is based on a copy of the book I have in front of me):
-->Essays in Greco-Roman and related Talmudic literature
(The Library of Biblical studies) [series editor: Harry M. Orlinsky]
Henry A. Fischel (editor)
KTAV Publishing House, Inc.
1977
413pp
Hardcover

I assume that the ISBN for The Jewish Lifecycle Book is incorrect

Ayshe | 3084 comments Book added: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... If you have cover and description, we can add them, too.

If you search for the ISBN on worldcat.org, "The Jewish Lifecycle Book" is also listed with the same ISBN: http://www.worldcat.org/title/jewish-... It was probably re-used.

Ktav in their earlier days definitely had some ISBN issues. I would not be surprised if they accidentally used the same ISBN more than once.

LP (lp27) | 827 comments Thanks, Ayshe & rivka.
Wow, I've never heard of a publisher (especially one I'm quite familiar with) screwing up like that!

In the 1970s (and to a lesser degree, the 1980s), many small publishers kept all ISBN records by hand, or in an internal-only system of some kind. Some of those records were lost, or not recorded properly, when they switched to computers. So some ISBNs originally used in the 1970s were accidentally reused in the early 90s.

Ktav is far from the only publisher where I have seen this.
