Woman question

I am having trouble following Mrs. Angier through this book. I was wondering if anyone can give me some guidance on sites that can help me through it or if someone would like to read it with me to understand it together. I know it's a book you have to be comfortable talking about intimate topics so please be warned if you want to check it out.
