Nice list! I'm also going to try to get through "Light in August" (Faulkner is not my favorite!), "The Mayor of Casterbridge" (I found I like Hardy more that I though I would), and "The Custom of the Country" (I always enjoy Edith Wharton). Enjoy your challenge and maybe we'll cross paths again while reading these books :)P.S. Loved The Shell Seekers!!
You have a great mix of serious classics and some fun books. I hope to read Possession next year too. Enjoy your challenge!
Great list. I read The Women in White and Great Expectations this year and they were both 5 star reads for me. I hope you like them.I
Fantastic list! I have been compiling my 2018 list for a little while, I think like you it will have a few tweaks before Jan though
Terris wrote: "Congratulations!! :)"Thank you Terris. I made some good choices this year. A Fan's Notes was the only book that wasn't really, really good.
I did get to Light in August and enjoyed it. But I did not get to The Mayor of Casterbridge or The Custom of the Country. Glad to see that you enjoyed them, I'll look forward to reading them in 2019!
Congratulations Janet! It looks like you loved all but 3 of them and only disliked one. That is a successful challenge. I've only read 3 on your list (Woman in White, Great Expectations and Merchant of Venice) but loved them all. I'm hoping to get to a Light in August, next August since I couldn't fit it in during the group read. I've only read short stories of Faulkner so far.
Most of your other's I plan to get to at some point.
Thank you Sue. When you are choosing books that are classics instead of new releases it is much easier to have a successful track record of picking good books. They are books that have stood the test of time.
