Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments No thread and no spreadsheet... I mean, you can have some for your own trackings.... BUT, you/we all be beta-testing something new. I won't ruin the surprise by saying much more than this:

We - and by we, I mean Kelly - are working very hard into the future of team challenges @ NBRC. We are all very excited to have it working because it is something we started talking about and testing the waters of it being possible at least 2 years ago...

Only after realizing that/how we could read from goodreads and post data into goodreads, did it started to seem possible. So now we're trying it.

That been said, it's going to need a lot of adjustments, so you need to 1)have patience and 2) inform us of anything that doesn't work right.

It will be done on a separate website. You can see what the other teams have bid.

Nairabell | 303 comments I just wanted to quickly check the general book qualifying rules for books to make sure I have them straight in my head: books have to be over 160 pages and started after the challenge begins to count right? Am I missing anything? Any rules on rereads?

ETA: Rereads as in books that have been read previously at some point in the past but are being read again in full during the challenge and meet the 160 page minimum.

message 258: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments We usually have the 6 month rule for re-reads. It's so common that sometimes we forget to add it.

:)

But, unless a sabotage says otherwise, you have it right :)

message 259: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I've decided to just prep by figuring out where I am in my series, what I have on hand and making library requests. It's soothing the need to prep for now.

message 270: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Just as a heads up (and a clarification on how things will work).

Books you submit will be tagged with any sabotages active on your team at the time you submit them. It's your job to make sure the book complies with the sabotages you have.

If you make a mistake. Send a PM to the mod account ASAP! If we notice, or another team notices before you send the PM, you'll be fined $300 and it will be removed from your task list.

If you notice another team has violated their sabotage, send a PM to the mod account so they'll get fined if they haven't already contacted us.

We reserve the right to not fine you if we feel it's really on the bubble of whether it applies but something simple like "Titles can't start with A" and then using the book Animal Farm will garner you no sympathy.

Feel free to ask any follow-up questions on this. As a note, your income from tasks will be $25-$100 normally and potentially up to $250 for incredibly annoying tasks. So the fine is at least a few books and maybe more.

message 271: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Also as a reminder, please invite the mod account to any private groups you've created. We won't spy for other teams but we want to ensure things are going ok.

Alysa H. | 3849 comments Reading the rules again here.
So, no children’s picture books, obviously, but lengthier prose children’s books are probably fine, right? Stuff like, say, the Chronicles of Narnia, or How to Train Your Dragon, for example.

message 278: by Ora (new)

Yeah, we're getting the captains signed up on the website. I'll post it for everyone later tonight (6 hours or so from now) and everyone can see the countdown clock then.

Go to arbookfind.com and put the book in to check the word count is over 40,000 words (160 pages) (e.g. how to train your dragon is 30774 and would therefore not be eligible for this challenge)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Hi Guys!

Everyone, it's time to join the companion website!

https://cutthroatbookclub.azurewebsit...

Click the login in the upper right corner. Make an account.

Once you have an account you can click the 3 dots button in the upper left corner and click profile. Add your goodreads ID and name.

Once you do that the mods can assign you to your team.

This website is where books get logged, where you can see sabotages (and bid if your authorized), you can also view all the other teams. (Wooden Sword is the mod test team, don't worry about that one.)

There are still some new things getting added so don't be surprised if things show up. Please let us know if you have technical issues and we'll get them worked out. We believe login isn't working correctly from iPads right now so if you're having trouble try a computer.

Once Round 1 starts you'll see the goals for your team on the Add Books page. I might be nice and unlock Round 1 early so you guys can see :)

You can also look at the rankings page and view any other teams submitted books for that round.

Check the upper right corner to see if it says Login. If it does click on that to log in. Rankings and About are the two you can see when not logged in.
