Still on my TBR list as well... But I think I will have to take a half year off from work to read everything I've planned for the first half of 2018 lol

Thank you Mary Pat! We're certainly needing that lol. A lot of awesome readings coming up. I'm very much tempted to abandon my goal of reading all of my dust bunnies to be able to join all of the awesome buddy reads!

message 66: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 375 comments I've been wanting to read East of Eden (or reread The Grapes of Wrath) with a buddy. It wouldn't be until almost midway through the year (I'm starting the year off with Moby-Dick or, The Whale).

I've been meaning to read both of them for a long time. I would totally be interested to read either one of them with you sometime midway through the year.

Any particular month or shall we play it by ear? Was there a preference on which one?

message 69: by Inkeri (new)

Inkeri | 118 comments Brianna wrote: "Any particular month or shall we play it by ear? Was there a preference on which one?"

I have no preference on which one but since you've already read The Grapes of Wrath maybe we should read East of Eden. Would May or June be almost midway enough? We don't necessarily have to set a month yet if you want to see when the best time for you is.

message 70: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 375 comments That would work! I'm anticipating Moby Dick to take at most three months. April I'll have finals, so May would be perfect! (tentatively lol)

message 71: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 15 comments Anyone for Jackaby, Between the Lines, Throne of Glass and/or A Court of Thorns and Roses. I have all of these books checked out from the library and I need motivation. Please.

A court of thorns and roses isn't complete yet as a series (so if I start now I'll have to re-read the first couple of ones to remember what happened).
Throne of Glass is on my TBR list too, but I actually already have to many reads going in the first half of the year....

Huh, it is not?! I have read all three books and it really feels as a trilogy, with a good ending. Do you know if Sarah J Maas has mentioned a fourth book somewhere? (I don't doubt you, I am just curious)

I'm in for Jackaby as well as A Court of Thorns and Roses. :D I'm good for any month for Jackaby. But Court does have a few holds, so maybe February at the earliest for that one?

message 85: by Eirelyn (new)

Eirelyn (ladyeirelyn) | 1244 comments I have a list of books I thought about reading this year but didn't get around to. Would anyone be interested in making any of these Buddy Reads for 2018?

~The Couple Next Door
~Caraval
~The Night Circus
~Six of Crows
~The Girl with All the Gifts
~Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
~The Perks of Being a Wallflower
~Turtles All the Way Down
~The Book Thief
~American Gods

Several of these are not really in my normal genres, so it would be nice to have some others to read with. :D

message 86: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Most of them are on my TBR list but the first half of 2018 I already have too many reads going so would have to be in the second half. I have to go now but hopefully this evening (it’s now 8 am for me) I’ll check out which ones exactly (if you are willing to wait till the second half of 2018 of course).

Ok, how about:
June: The book thief
July: The couple next door
August: The night circus
Sept: Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine
Oct: American Gods
Nov: The perks of being a wallflower
Dec: Turtles all the way down

The other ones are part of a series, so I would like to read the other installments too. Seems like 2019 is going to be the year I finish my series and start some new lol

message 92: by Eirelyn (new)

Eirelyn (ladyeirelyn) | 1244 comments Susy, all of those will work for me. :D

Daph & Scott, are you good with reading The Book Thief in June? Or, Daph, were you set on February or March? (I think this is the only book that had month discrepancies.)

Ilona, is August good for The Night Circus? And what about September for Eleanor Oliphant?

Scott, does October sound good for American Gods?
