December is fine with me!

December it is!

Mary Pat, is it too late to sign up for the October Buddy Read of Coraline?
Edited to add: I wish to join the Neverwhere Buddy Read, too!

Cool, the more the merrier!
I'm still waiting on my copy from the library....

I have two books to read by the end of October but I will be happy to read this with you in November or December

Hi Lindsay! I will read it with you in December! It has been on my list for awhile and I love the movie. Plus that will give me some time to finish up a couple books between now and then.

Whichever month is better for you is fine with me! I don’t have too much planned reading wise for the end of the year.

Future Home of the Living God. Author Louise Erdrich is a member of the Chippewa tribe.
When My Brother Was an Aztec. Poet Natalie Díaz is a member of the Mojave tribe...."
@Kirstin
I'd love to join you in reading Future Home of the Living God in November!

Me, me, me! I've been wanting to start this series, too!
Would you be starting with The Little Sisters of Eluria or The Gunslinger?

Cool!!! :)
Well, actually I was thinking of reading them both in January if that's ok with you?

Reading both The Little Sisters of Eluria and The Gunslinger in January sounds fantastic!
I can't wait! *sits on hands

Would anyone be interested in reading either of the books below?
*Margaret Wilkerson Sexton's A Kind of Freedom
(For the "And the Winner Is..." challenge, set in New Orleans)
*Yoko Tawada's Memoirs of a Polar Bear?
(For the "Hot or Cold" challenge. Tawada is a Japanese author who writes in Japanese and German. She coined the term "exophonic," describing authors who publish in a language other than their native tongue.

Not to try to sway you or anything, but A Kind of Freedom is part of the And the Winner Is... challenge.
No worries! I'm planning to read books for December, so just thought I'd ask around about a buddy read. :D

Looking forward to finding out what your doorstopper will be! :D

I actually read that it is advised to read The little sisters of Eluria either after book 4.5 (which can be read after book 4 or after book 8) or book 8... So I guess we'll be starting with The Gunslinger?

I finally finished The Outsider which was a read a few months ago and it's thread has already been archived. I did have quite a few references some might be spoilers to the Bill Hodges trilogy. I haven't read that trilogy so I'm not sure if they were really spoilers or not.
Maybe in 2019 we can have reads for that trilogy. Also anybody want to read the Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) series in early 2019? (or start in Dec this year). I've read them before but want to read them again before the last season of the HBO show.

I’ll read A Song of Ice and Fire with you. I’ve never actually read the books.

@Susy
Okay with The Gunslinger in January. Just let me know what order you want to read the books and I'll do the same.
This is what I have in terms of pages.
1. The Gunslinger, 300 pgs
2. The Drawing of Three, 463
3. The Wastelands, 612
4. Wizard and Glass, 752
4.5. Wind Through the Keyhole, 322
0.5. The Little Sisters of Eluria, 136
5. Wolves of Calla, 931
6. Song for Susannah, 432
7. The Dark Tower, 1050

O wow, I hadn't looked at the page numbers yet.... I'm afraid I won't be able to read the longer ones in 1 single month (seeing that I have other reads and challenges planned as well). How about this order and month:
1. The Gunslinger, 300 pgs → January
2. The Drawing of Three, 463 → February
3. The Wastelands, 612 → March
4. Wizard and Glass, 752 → April-May
5. Wolves of Calla, 931 → June-July
6. Song for Susannah, 432 → August
7. The Dark Tower, 1050 → September-October
4.5. Wind Through the Keyhole, 322 → November
0.5. The Little Sisters of Eluria, 136 → December

Mary Pat has had to step away temporarily, so I am filling in for her. I have put together this list for December. Please let me know if I need to add any books or make any changes.
Series Continuing:
Alex Cross #9 The Big Bad Wolf
Sherlock Holmes #7 The Valley of Fear
Outlander #3 Voyager
Series Starting:
A Song of Fire and Ice #1A Game of Thrones
Detective Erica Foster #1 The Girl in the Ice

I will be opening the threads for these books on Monday.

Susy, I'm relieved to note that you've split some books across two months. And we'll still finish the series in December!
100% on board with your great plan!
I'm planning to read Salem's Lot between Books 4 and 5, so I'm grateful for the breathing room. :D

Would anyone be interested in reading either of the books below?
*A Kind of Freedom, 256 pages
*Memoirs of a Polar Bear, 252 pages
I think I may be able to read at least one of these with you but I will try to read both. Maybe we can agree on which to read first. ..."
Kristin
Let's read first whichever book most interests you.
Please take your pick. :D

I read it like 20 years ago although I don't remember much about it... Would like to reread it but not sure though if I can squeeze in another book lol....

Haha, I've already given up on Insomnia but want to try to read Salem's Lot. Might end up just reading a synopsis, lol.

Thanks

I am sooo excited for her new novel! Count me in!!

I will join for the Testaments! Probably not Handmaid's Tale since I read it twice last year and I'm signed up for way too many challenges already.

I would like to read The Handmaid's Tale as well. :)

Wow, someone is really excited about The Testaments!
I would be interested in a buddy read for that book next year.
Would you still be interested in a 3-month Buddy Read for 1Q84?
I could start any month from March onward.

I'm giggling a little here because we are so far ahead of ourselves for 2019.
But I've added The Testament and 1Q84 for my 2019 BRs. :D

I read The Handmaid's Tale this year, so maybe I'll Red Clocks next September instead. *adds it to my 2019-tbr shelf...
