The Once and Future King is on my TBR pile and I've been wanting to read it for ages because I'm interested in the Arthurian legends. I'll join in the buddy read if we do one! I should be able to start it in a couple of days.

Melissa wrote: "I’d also like to nominate a book for November, which is also Native American History month: There There by Tommy Orange."I had already planned to read There There in November, and have it on hold at the library. Count me in!
Angela wrote: "Please add a thread for pop goes the weasel by james patterson (alex cross #5) for august. Thanks!"Done!
Melissa wrote: "I’d like to participate in the October Buddy Read of Dragonfly in Amber. It’ll take me awhile, as it’s a long one so I’ll start now 😊"I have added you to the list of participants for this book and the others in the series!
Mary Pat wrote: "Kimberly, Rachel - I have created an August thread for The Once and Future King!"Thank you :)
I'm so in for the once and future king. I'm reading it right now. I'd really love to Buddy read peter pan waiting for godot fanny hill and/or molieres the doctor in spite of himself. I'll be reading the play en francais and I'm learning french so that should be fun! thx for considering it.
I just received my copies of the darkest minds trilogy and want to start IMMEDIATELY lol. Is anyone up for doing a buddy read this week?
I’ll read the first installment with you this week if I can get it from the library tomorrow. Wanted to read it before watching the movie but didn’t think I’d make it. This was just the push I needed lolI’ll be reading it in Dutch though, my library doesn’t have an English copy.
Yay :) all the movie promotions made me break down and finally buy the series. It's been on my to-buy list for ages, but I'm actually trying to read the books i own and not buy any (totally going "well", bought 13 books in july.... 🙄)I'm not sure yet if i want to see the movie, i think I'll wait and see what the general consensus is first.
Don't want another disaster like ready player one by ernest cline - that's one of my absolute favourite books, but the adaptation was...... disappointing, to put it mildly.
Hahaha, same here, bought 16 books in February and another 8 or 9 in April....I know what you mean although I did enjoy the movie Ready Player One once I could let go that it would have anything to do with the book.
All the shiny new books are just too tempting to resist 😂Yeah, i thought it was a great movie actually, but as an adaptation it was beyond horrendous...
Cool! Might have to buy them all too, my library doesn't have the novellas (nor the 4th instalment, which isn't strange since it only recently came out, don't know how long it takes before my library acquires them, if they do that is) and I hate owning incomplete series lol (unless they suck, then I won't buy them...almost hoping I won't like it too much lol)
Is the new one actually part of the series? I thought it took place a few years after "in the afterlight" and could also be read separately?
I don't think they have titles. In the first one it just says "bonus short story about liam and his brother cole"
Susy wrote: "I’ll read the first installment with you this week if I can get it from the library tomorrow. Wanted to read it before watching the movie but didn’t think I’d make it. This was just the push I need..."I got The Darkest Minds from the library, yay!
Mary Pat, could you please make a thread for us (Angela Jr. and myself) to buddy read it? Thank you!

MacKenzie wrote: "Would anyone want to do a buddy read of the Abhorsen trilogy before the end of the year?"Yes! Been meaning to reread it for ages.
Satin wrote: "Hi! Can I join the Darkest Minds buddy read too?"lol, I just invited you in the Let's Chat thread when I saw you were reading it too :)
Im currently on page 162 and really into it! It feels like your typical YA dystopian so far, but I don't really mind at this point. The concept is interesting :)
Susy wrote: "Yes, I agree, interesting concept. It reminds me a bit of a series I watched quite a few years ago."What series was that?
Chapter 23 (and spoilers for the shatter me trilogy)ruby's thoughts about clancy remind me so much of juliette from shatter me!
(view spoiler)
Angela Jr. wrote: "Susy wrote: "Yes, I agree, interesting concept. It reminds me a bit of a series I watched quite a few years ago."What series was that?"
Ehh, I have such a bad memory... I think it had an A in it lol. And it was about adults with special talents instead of kids...
Will have to come back to you on this...

Angela Jr, Susy, Satin - I have created the thread for The Darkest Minds! Could you please do me a favor and move any discussions of the book from this thread to the new thread? I don't have the ability or I would do it for you! :)Thanks!
Ana wrote: "Can I please join the Buddy Reads for Outlander and Behind Closed Doors?"Ana, I have added you to the list of participants for the Outlander series and Behind Closed Doors!
Greetings All Buddy Readers! The first post in this thread that explains how Buddy Reads work has been updated. Please take a moment to review the changes here.
How individual Buddy Reads threads are posted will also change starting in September. Instead of two posts, there will only be one post starting each thread. It will include the title of the book, the author, a list of participants, the total number of pages, and the timeframe (one month, two months, etc.). It will also include a reminder about spoilers and a link to the introduction thread for more information. The number of pages per week post will be dropped as it has become very clear that everyone reads at their own pace in Buddy Reads - which do take a more relaxed approach. The latter makes it even more important to mark spoilers though, which is why we are putting a reminder in every starting thread.
These changes will provide Buddy Reads that are cleaner, simpler and more reader-friendly – an important step as our group grows!
<>Ana, I have added you to the list of participants for the Outlander series and Behind Closed Doors!"Thank You :)
On another note….I will be on vacation at the end of this month – without a laptop. (I will be in the South Pacific wearing a flower crown and working with sea turtles in a marine sanctuary!) As a result, September Buddy Reads will be posted early – on August 19th. I will not be able to create any new September Buddy Reads threads until I return in early September.
Please review the current list of September Buddy Reads here. These are the reads that I already plan to create. Any buddy reads request posted by August 19th will have a thread created before I leave. (Remember, at least two people need to be interested for a thread to be created.)
You can continue to request Buddy Reads in this thread while I am gone. Just understand that any September threads will not be created until I return early in the month.
The sea turtles and I thank you for your patience!
