2018 Buddy Reads - Introduction & Sign Up

i would love to join sherlock holmes. i started reading them a couple years back but never got all the way through! I'm up to the adventure of the priory school in the return of sherlock holmes, so I'll be joining you from october onwards :)

You seem to have switched around the hound of the baskervilles and the return of sherlock holmes, i think. At least it says in my "complete sherlock holmes" that baskerville is supposed to come between memoirs and return.

Angela is right about the order of the books I think. At least that is the order of the books on Goodreads. My own editions are also shuffled a bit.

IIRC Kristin said she wouldn't be able to read Salvage the Bones/Men We Reaped in June, so those won't happen this month.

Interesting. I gave them in the order from my "complete collection" edition, but I see in Wikipedia that Hound was serialized and published before Return. So, yes, let's go ahead and switch those two so we can read them in publication order. Thanks! And welcome to Angela, Ilona, Scott and anyone else that would like to join Suki and me.

My library copy is 1 book.... (indeed with Iliad first and then Odyssey)

Is there a particular translation anyone is reading? There’s a new translation of the Odyssey by Emily Wilson that I’m curious about. I read the Fitzgerald translations in University.

My editions are translated by George Chapman, though I plan to pick up the new Wilson translation at some point.
