Bonnie McCune (bonniemccune) Project Gutenberg and some other sites have free ebooks that are classics. Wonderful to re-read them OR sample them for the first time. I'm currently deep into Gulliver's Travels. Also have paged through A Little Princess, Heidi, Tarzan, all the Austens, Anne of Green Gables. Have to admit I haven't made it through The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte. These are all clean, many have writing styles much different from today's. Interesting to compare what was of interest and what is currently.

Pamela Humphrey (phumphrey) It's been years since I read the Tenant at Wildfell Hall, but I remembering liking it.

Bonnie McCune (bonniemccune) Authors simply represent their times as well as themselves. They shouldn't be chastised for their views, unless someone is in favor of blanket censorship. I recently re-read Tarzen and loved it. Learned a lot about inserting action-action-action into writing, too.
