Hailee's Buddy Read Tracker
Hope your Dad gets better. Sorry this got lost in my flood of notifications.Heads up: Will you please come to BR invites thread? Elizabeth there posted her reading longlist and it has Priory and Mistborn 1 and I thought we could firm up plans/set up for those. Mind, she just requested a bunch of BRs April and after will be cooler for all of us, I reckon.
Ok I'll head over there now. He's a lot better thanks. Still gas a cough and sounds like someones been strangling him 😂. But apart from thats he's now back on his feet. And best of all I didn't catch it which makes a change lol
That IS a bonus.Which reminds me....I'm looking for somebody to read the Stand with....all the hardcore fans already have...

"I've had in the back of my mind that I should probably give a Stephen King a go. I was thinking about doing 11/22/63 since seems like his least scary lol but The Stand seems like it could be ok.
That sounds like a perfect plan, you! Six weeks sounds about right for our "horror absorption rate"...😂And I like this bookcover and thought you might too! If you don't own the Stand yet let's both get the Expanded edition and read the full story....???

EDIT I fucked up...😂😂😂 somehow the cover look squashed to me...hahaha! I am SO BAD at this....😜
Zaara wrote: "That sounds like a perfect plan, you! Six weeks sounds about right for our "horror absorption rate"...😂And I like this bookcover and thought you might too!..."
Great I've pencilled it is for a start start date of the 14th Sept but we can alter that closer to the time if we want to.
That cover is beautiful. Its been doing the rounds on booktube recently and it sounds right up my alley. Can't wait for the paperback release so I can read it. I'll keep an eye of the buddy read thread for this so that I can see if you are all enjoying it.
Zaara wrote: "If you don't own the Stand yet let's both get the Expanded edition and read the full story....???"Definitely. If we are going to tead it we may as well read the "full" thing. I have two editions in mind that I'm deciding between and they are both the extended edition:
or
😂😂😂 looking the blowups of these covers now....let's go shopping...and I juuust posted on the London thread that Ima get the nice edition of New York as welll....which one is the one you have?? My edition of London is much prettier (muted blues and greens) than my yucky pucebeige Sarum but stilll....

Haha yeah I am having trouble deciding. I prefer the look of the cover with the road on it but the black cover with the green face is a oversized floppy paperback which are my favourites to read.
Yes my paperback matches my London copy and has this cover
which I love. Sadly they didn't reprint any Rutherford's other books with this design which is sad.
Oh sure...I too love the floppies....😂 remember when that word meant something else entirely??
Tbh, I must warn you that I ragequit Mistborn after reading Book 1 a few years ago AND I can't promise the same reason won't bother me again this time around.........should've said this earlier but I have mentioned it other times when being triggered by Sanderson and by now I guess everyone knew....😂😂😂
Lol yeah I remember. They were still being used in our house long after they went out of fashion!!I didn't know that. *insert picture of the rock I must have been living under to have missed it 😂* All you can do is give it another go. If you ragequit again at least you can be confident that this series just isn't for you rather than because you weren't in the right mood for it.
I love how you phrased that to make it feel better...are my notifications for your tracker broken? I KNOW I've alerts on...I can see it as I type. And sweetheart...our duo BR for Feb Week 2 just became a party :D everyone's coming...love when that happens!!
Left another message on one of your reading updates...uuuhh...sorry for bombing you today...just didnt think to club everything...😝

I did notice that. I was going to comment on the thread but I was feeling a bit salty at the time since the copy that I bought "in excellent condition" is actually in really bad bleeding condition so I'm still waiting for the seller to give me a way to send it back and refund me.
Don't worry though I'll just read it on one of those free novels online sites so I'll still be joining in. Maybe before I return the naff copy I'll just note down all the pages when a new chapter starts so I can still note my page progress on goodreads ;-)
Re London (replying to your comment from elsewhere)...I'll check the amended amended schedule...😂 and thanks for all this hard work, Hay. I do love obeying the schedule, helps me fit more in and plan ahead realistically.
Haha yeah I don't feel guilty either. I alway read books on there that I already own a physical copy of since I don't enjoy reading books online as a rule but sometimes like you said these site are just more convenient. Like if things are quiet at work I'll read a chapter or 2 on the online version on my computer since my managers would notice me sitting at my desk with a paperback in my hands but not if I'm passing the time looking at words on a computer, or I'll read it on my phone on the bus on my commute since its easier than dragging my paperback in and out of my bag multiple times 😊
I'll start Suddenly You moro night. Sorry I'm late tho I figure you'll have your hands full with🌛 gardens....
Yep I'm reading 5 books at the moment and most of them are massive lol so I've just been waiting for someone else to start it before I do. I'll be finishing Six of Crows today though so at least I'll be able to keep my currently reading to 5 😅🙈

Zaara wrote: "Hailee wrote: "Yep I'm reading 6 books at the moment and most of them are massive lol so I've just been waiting for someone else to start it before I do. I'll be finishing Six of Crows today though..."Haha yeah I did notice that...sneaky... I'm happy to wait until everyone is ready. The Goblin Emperor sound like a fun read. I'll have to add it to my TBR. The new paperback cover is stunning. The Goblin Emperor (won't display the cover properly so you'll have to click the link)
Speaking of adding things to my TBR have you heard of the series that starts with Green Rider? I've seen this book in bookshops for years and one of my best friends even read it last year but it wasn't until I saw someone talking about it on booktube a week or so ago that I actually took notice of it and realised that it sounded right up my street.
Well actually it kinda all happemed spontaneously but I'm happy to perpetrate the vague illusion of pervasive evil and take credit for everything miasmic and chaos-inducing.Re Goblin Empreror...O Hay, really??
Yowza 💪...CORBAM THE BRIGHTSTAR strikes again...I am so damn lucky...if that is a serious (and not a if/then) intention...I will ruthlessly abandom the January BR and wait to read it with you and Anni because - and this more a numerical illustration of my planning greediocy than a topper upper:
(view spoiler)
Yea so my heart beats very fast typing that list and I feel like the top of my head jezzt came off...tho Chris did the smartest thing jettisoning all the extra load and chilling with what he enjoys, but my doomsday instinct's always just to do everything somehow & make it work + gimme more!
But now that you say...if you mean it....I'd soooo gladly do a Lannister and drop this one. Aalone on the BR thread anyways + it's very sparsely commented on (the days when we had 300+ comments on a thread!) so we can use it when we three do ours?
O thankyou, thankyou, Hay...o the blessed relief and reprieve.........
I feel desperately rebellious now...and think I will just take a break tonight and go to the night streetmkt...
Ohk...sure, I will check this series....
EDIT WOW...stunning cover...I also waaaaaant.....
2nd EDIT should I drop the jan BR? Are you deffo buying the book?
Lol yeah I was definitely serious. I've seen this book around but always skipped over it since my shallow eyes detested the cover but now there is a beautiful one on offer thats all changed 😍😍I'm up for a buddy read later on if you do decide to drop the current buddy read (coz there is no way I can fit it in in the next couple of months unfortunately 😅)
Also Zaara don't stress about Three Dark Crowns either. I know you were initially planning to read book 1 in February so we could get to book 2 at the beginning of March but I have plenty I need to get finished before my readathon starts in April so I'm happy enough to delay book 2 until April, or later if I can't fit it into the reading prompts (the reading prompts won't be released until March so I don't know whether I'll need to read it in April until they have been released)Its up to you but I thought I'd put a 2nd repreave on the table if you needed it 🙃
O I hadn't forgotten Three Dark Crowns or The Magus. I just thought there was enough to freak abt without counting the ones that start after the 20th...ULP!
Ok so then let's read GE together after a few months, for sure, and deffo get Anni too.
I'm ordering the same pretty edition cuz duplicating an ebook doesn't count, right? 😅
Re 3 dark crowns I have a six hour journey coming up and thought I'd read on the flight...let's see...I'm glad to have the reprieve at least until mid March. But I'm deffo eager for the series...so soonish rather than later....
Zaara wrote: "

Haha well as long as you think you can cope with it. I'm ready to continue on whenever you're ready.
As for duplicating editions well I do it all the time so you'll get no judgement from me 😉. And yes we'll definitely drag Anni along for the ride!!
Haha yea thanks for that... tho I own 2 sets of the Moontide Quartet in physical (one set is part signed!!) on two different continents AND the ebooks AND in a cunning twist I am listening to the series... if I complete it on audio it will be my first full series I listened to! Same with Abercrombie...all the formats.
And Malazan (but I don't own the Malazan premium editions, I have the Bantam paperbacks) And now I will have two Goblin Emperors... and two Bears and the Nightingale...
I still have my superughly old Elantris and Sarum tho I want the nice UK edition of Warbreaker for June.
If you don't mind my asking, Hay, what readathon is this? Do you find it boosts your read tally for the month? When is it? Can anyone join? Jeez, just how weak am I on the temptation-resistance continuum........😝 I WAS JUST telling Siobhan I am committing to nothing new n stuff...
It's a readthon hosted by Book Roast on YouTube and yes anyone can join in.The basic premise is that it is based on the exams on Harry Potter and you read a book fitting aset prompt for each school subject and so pass the exam. In April is the OWL's Magical Readathon and in August is the NEWTs Magical Readathon.
I definitely notice an increase in my reading during yhe months of the readthon. This year will be the third year and its a real community now. I've participated since year 1 and I love it.
I can definitely empathize with the commitment issue but this readathon is really a fun person challenge. Its just a fun way to pick your books for the month and give you the achievement of passing your Transfiguration exam (for example) just by reading.
Anyway the best explanation for how exactly it works is by book roast (G) herself so I'm linking the announcement videos for last year. Make sure to check out the careers booklet in the video description. 😍

Hey Hailee! How you doing with The Desert Spear? I can start tomorrow if you're still reading. Sorry it's taken me so long, I needed to finish Harry Potter! :)
Siobhan wrote: "Hey Hailee! How you doing with The Desert Spear? I can start tomorrow if you're still reading. Sorry it's taken me so long, I needed to finish Harry Potter! :)"Yeah I haven't read any more since we talked about it. I'm good to go :-)

Cool! I'll make a start then. I'm going to try listening to the audiobook, see how that goes.
Great I'll read a bit tomorrow as well then. Since I'm reading it physically you'll likely catch up with me even with my slight headstart 😅We'll just use the thread from January if thats ok with you?
Hailee wrote: "Great I'll read a bit tomorrow as well then. Since I'm reading it physically you'll likely catch up with me even with my slight headstart 😅We'll just use the thread from January if thats ok with ..."
Yeah the January thread is good! See you over there. I listened to the first two chapters today (I think), not sure I like it so far because it's about that mean guy from the desert city! :/
I'll be fairly slow I think, going to listen in the car then review what I've read in my physical copy to check names and stuff. Apparently the British narrator pronounces everything wrong and Brett hated it.
Yeah I feel for you. I struggled so much with section one which is all from Jardir's pov and had to really push through. I've read a few chapters of section 2 today though and its definitely holding my interest a bit better. Hopefully you'll feel the same.Ohh it's a bad sign if the author of the book dislikes the audiobook that much 😕
Hailee wrote: "Yeah I feel for you. I struggled so much with section one which is all from Jardir's pov and had to really push through. Btw, I saw....I saw the magical readathon videos...omg the careers booklet....😍😍😍 adorbs! The amount of work, and creativity, staggering. What career did you choose?
What books?
Do tell!!
I saw this too late but deffo next year.
I DO join for Dewey's readathon every year tho, quietly and privately, i think i may've posted about it here once...in the very early days....

Hey Zaara. I choose Metal Charmer for my career. Give you the list of books in a second but first I kept meaning to post on your tracker and kept forgetting but how desperate are you to read Final Empire in May? I've been debating with myself. I'm not sure I'm 100% in the mood for it at the moment (plus I don't actually own it yet). If you're really looking forward to it I'll still give it a go since I'll most likely enjoy it once I've got into it, I just thought I'd run the idea of delaying it for a while past you? I keep flipping between wanting to read it now and wanting to leave it till for a while so I need someone else to make my decision for me and you drew the short straw... congratulations 😉
I've never done Deweys before since I work every weekend I've never had time. However I'm obviously not working during this round of Dewey's so definitely planning on taking part.
Tried to post a link of the picture on my instagram but its not working and haven't got the patience tonight to work out whats going wrong 🙈. My insta is linked on my profile if you are interested. So far I have read Recursion for Arithmancy, The Honey-Don't List for Ancient Runes, Shadowblack for Charms and charnged my TBR slightly and read Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone for Transfiguration. Currently reading Onyx and Ivory for Astronomy and about to start The Matchmaker's Playbook for Herbology 😊
Will check your insta, if it is possible to open it in browser without having one of your own. Btw Siobhan started one too and has a very cute garden reading nook...chk that out! One day she may post Paddington, and I will chk back every three months or so...Uhoh, I was really looking forward to finally getting to (and sticking with) Mistborn Era 1 esp seeing the Cosmere thread popping like Orville (Redenbacher) but we had such a great thing going that I don't want to break up our reading partnership either!!
Now I'm paralysed, Hay, what should I do?
NB: I thought it was just gonna be you, me and Elizabeth but it looks like several more ppl signed on for the BR, so I amenable and we do have some wiggle room to start late-ish, say around the 15 of May? I'm sure we can work something out. Let's chk back near EoM. That's 2 BR away for me....still time....
Wow, that is fantastic April reading....YOU GO, YOU! You chose one of the more complex careers...hey, I am seriously tempted to choose "easy" career, do the OWLS (privately) in July (I have no BRs planned after June) and join the NEWTS this August. I watch one OWL video per day on YouTube, its crazy how tempting those are....and in the 2019 Newts video she DID say tardy ones can do this!
*riffles thru career booklet*
FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS OF THE OWLS AND FOR DEWEYS:
(view spoiler)
EDIT OF COURSE NONE OF THE IMAGE LOAD THE FIRST TIME. Well I hope you can see them now and hope you smash your owl goals!!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Yeah I actually already follow Siobhan's insta, plus a few others in FBR. I responded to the Mistborn issue on your tracker in case you haven't already seen it.
If you have time you should definitely give the OWLs a go in July. Lots of people do it, plus a lots of people who have failed during April do it as well... plus if you don't have time you can always just do the NEWTs in August unofficially. People do that as well. Treat it as a mock exam as practice for next year.
I'm actually having to change my career since I'm just not feeling like reading any of the books suitable for the DADA prompt so I'm having to find a career that doesn't include it which limits my options. I'll probably go for Wandmaker instead, with Animagus Training as an extra.
And thank you indeed for following Hailee! :) I love seeing your pictures on Insta, and my other FBR buddies on there. Zaara! Make an Instagram and follow us! :D
@Siobhan....yeah all right.@Hay...this is a very late reply and I checked your Insta and wow, you are a readathon vet, you! *grins*
And 😍 that Austen reading wall... and the snuggly colourful throw blanket...I had no idea we had so much else (besides Austen and snuggly throws and readathons) in common... you have such a wonderful, artistic HAPPY reading space! And no person deserves it more.
I'd like to have one, someday. Mostly I just go to the park, and uggg now I can't. My throw is ancient and soft and faaay-ded from being too many time in the sun... it used to be maroon and navy but its now just a soft blue and dusty rose, handworked all over from my grandma and all the stories I read. It smells like Penhaligons and 4711.
Do you like candles? I love White Barn and BBW cuz its a lot of variety and the names are so catchy and the prices are friendly... I used to like watching those candle haul videos... but after a while you find they use alot of the same base notes.
REQUEST: I hope you will do a Tome Topple TBR :) I haven't checked you guys' Insta after my last peek ten days ago.
I also checked the TT announcement. Hell yeah, I'll join, I'll be having Mistborn, Ascendant's Rite, Priory of the Orange Tree and Pride and Prejudice.

Its true I am mildly obsessed with readathon 😅. As well as TT I am low key taking part in Medievalathon as well. I use this readathon calendar to keep my eye out for upcoming interesting ones lol:
http://www.littlebookowl.com/p/read-t...
I do love my reading chair. I also have another in my living room that is just as comfortable (although maybe not as colourful 😅) . I hope you get a nice reading space indoors soon. I rarely read outdoors myself as the flying insects freak me out too much and I find ot impossible to relax. In theory the lovely views and sounds of nature sounds so peaceful and I really hope you find joy from reading outside, however in reality for me nature comes with too many things that buzz past my ear causing to to run around screaming 😂 (sadly this is not exaggeration either).
I love candles as well. Especially scented ones. Although I don't use them frequestly as I have a slight paranoia about them at the same time. I'll only use use one if I know I'm going to be sitting relaxing for a long period of time so I know I won't knock it over like the clumsy git I am 🙈.
Yesterday I posted my May TBR which obviously includes the books I will be reading for TT but I expect I'll do a post in a couple of days dedicated to just the two or three books I'll be focusing on those two weeks as well. I also posted my finalised OWLs readathon wrap up if you're interested.
Yep, I'd love to see those TBR pics, Hailee. I will check back in some days. I dunno if I can do 4 TT books in two weeks tho.I saw you've started Mistborn but I sidetracked a couple days to finish the Parasol Protectorate and Moontide BRs. Then I will do Mistborn. I'm gonna try and listen this time so

Yeah I've only made about 60 pages of progress on The Final Empire so far though. I've been sidetracked by things and then decided to concentrate on finishing The Cruel Stars which I completed today so I'll be continuing FE from tomorrow, I'll see younover at the thread when you start. Since there is only a week left of the readatjon I think I'll just have to concentrate on this since there is no way I'll also get Priory done as well.
I'm due a reread of Pride and Prejudice soon since its been about 3 years since I last re-read it and since it is my number 1 favourite book of all time I think thats practically a crime 😂. Plus it'll get me in a classic reading frame of mind as I'm determined to read a few classics in the 2nd half of 2020. I've been neglecting them.Is your copy over 500 pages then if you are reading it during Tome Topple?

GOING TO THE LONDON THREAF NOW! Uhhh after i finish shouting at you in capitals that is...😂😂😂 can't be stuffed to retype..."
Ahh I love it!! That drawing is so cute!! Cuter than mine. Mine is almost ready to go though. I set it up on my work computer before xmas and then forgot to print it off 🤦♀️. My first day back was yesterday but today I'm getting a lift home so i'll be able to transport it home safely (its on A3 paper). So I'm going to take it home with me today and colour in the bits that need it and i'll upload a picture on the London thread by tomorrow at the latest.
I'll show your artistic talents to my dad tonight. He's sick as a dog with flu at the moment, he has been ill over the whole holiday period but its only got bad in the last couple of days.
