Haha ok I'll take your word for it. I'm liking Malice so far but I am only 50-ish pages in so far.

Hailee | 2764 comments Regarding North and South. Late July works for me. Say about the 20th?

Or mid September if that works better?

July 20 is fine, Hailee. We're on...go ahead and pencil it in. And thanks for waiting on that.

Hailee | 2764 comments Great I've pencilled it in. Looking forward to it.

Hailee | 2764 comments Ok so I think I'm due an update on the changes I've made to my tracker.

I've added books 2 and 3 in the Gentleman Bastard series (Jan-Feb) as I'm really hoping to join the buddy reads arranged for those.

I've added the Moontide Quartet (Sept-Dec) as a buddy read eith tentative dates has been arranged for these and I've had my eye on this series for quite a while.

And finally I have added Ready Player One to March. This ian't a buddy read (although if anyone is interested let me know), but the film comes out at the end of March and I want to remind myself to read it before I watch the film. And March is the month I have the least arranged for before the release date.

message 62: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments I've got Ready Player One as Audio Book, so I would be up for a BR :) All my other reads in March are physical copys, I don't think it would be a problem to squeeze in a audiobook :)

Great! I'm happy to fit it in any time during March. Do you have preference on a start date?

message 64: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments We could leave it for the 1st and shift it if necessary :)

I'd like to read it. Any date is fine with me.

message 66: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2764 comments Anni - yep that works for me👍

Hacen - yey the more the merrier 😊. As Anni said we'll leave it for the 1st but play it by ear closer to the time.

Hailee | 2764 comments January update

Well this has been an unsuccessful month. I only managed to read one book in January plus a couple of chapters of Garden of the Moon.

There were a couple of reasons for this:
First I got the flu and was ill for nearly two weeks then my dad had a serious accident that lead to him severing three fingers from his left hand. To cap it all off the accident happened two days before the first anniversary of my mums death... so yeah a crappy reading month and a crappy month for life in general.

So inbetween looking after my dad and work I'll try and catch up with Gardens of the Moon so I can hopefully join in the buddy read for Deadhouse Gates mid-February.

I hope other peoples reading month has been better than mine!!

Sorry to hear you had a tough month.

Thanks Chris. Sorry your reading month hasn't been good. To be fair my reading month could still have been bad without the problems but it makes me fwel better to blame life being against me rather than just laziness 😉

That photo is adorable by the way. You can't help but smile back lol.

message 74: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2764 comments Right definitely time to add an update on the changes I have made to my tracker recently.

I have made the Malazan series a more uncertain addition since I don't think I'll be able to keep up so I'm probably going to be trailing behind everyone and taking advantage of the helpful threads to ensure I am understanding everything. Maybe i'll catch up by May but I'm not holding my breath.

I have added the Temeraire series to my tracker. I hadn't added it before since I believed as I was already about 4 books ahead when I joined this group that I would be finished with them before the group was reading the last three books. Also I overestimated myself but on the plus side it was fun to read with the group so I'll look forward to reading the last two with everyone as well.

Lastly, The Heroes of Olympus, as a middle grade series i'm hoping these books will be quick to get through.

message 75: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments Good work! Your tracker looks full, but managable :) But don't you dare to kick out the Brett and Butcher series, I'm looking forward to read them together :)

I'm thinking about starting Malazan for a loooong, long time as well, but the books scare me a little... So many books in this series and everyone sais the books are quite complicared. Also there is no way I could follow at the pace of one book a month :D When I come to it someday in future I will do so as well, read at my own pace and come here to stalk the helpfull threads.

message 76: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2764 comments Thanks Anni, yes it is just about possible for me to read everything as long as I don't come across the dreaded reading slump monster ;-)

As for Malazan yes I'm definitely finding that even with six weeks between them I won't be able to keep up the pace. All of us who can't keep up should band together and organise our own schedule... one book every three/four months lol.

Definitely keeping Brett and Butcher. I've been meaning to read Butcher's series for about 3 years now so I'm not delaying that any longer and I bought the first four Demon Cycle books in preparation for a buddy read for another group starting in January and ended up not being able to get to it so there is no excuse for me to miss it a second time :-) Looking forward to discussing them with you, I've got a feeling there will be plenty to discuss with these ones.

Thanks 😁. This is a lot better than last month where I completed exactly zero buddy reads with the group

message 80: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8724 comments Hahaha definite improvement then! You're rocking it!
I've managed to stay on track by dropping one this month, I overestimated my abilities I think!

Congrats and they were all 4 or 5 star reads which is always a lovely bonus!! I'm a bit more worried about my April, but the ones that aren't in bold haven't been committed to so I have a bit of leeway there at least

message 82: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments Good Job Hailee, especially your organisation and that you do one book after another... I'm terrible at that and mess everything up horribly 😂

message 83: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2764 comments Anni wrote: "Good Job Hailee, especially your organisation and that you do one book after another... I'm terrible at that and mess everything up horribly 😂"

Thanks Anni. This month just happened to fall really well. Hopefully April will work out the same way but I can see me having to read a couple of buddy reads at the same time to keep up this month. We'll see how that goes 😓

message 84: by Hailee (last edited Mar 28, 2018 10:54AM) (new)

Hailee | 2764 comments Ok so in message 4 I have made myself a timetable of when I am going to try to fit in all the books I am supposed to read in April. Both for this group and for other things.

The top section is the schedule as set by this group for their buddy reads. Below that is the timetable of when I think I might realistically get a chance to start the book (some are a few weeks after the official start date). The links in bold are ones I will be reading with this group.

I'm just testing this method out to see if it helps me keep on track with everything.

Anni | 5066 comments King of Thornes! King of Thornes! King of Thornes!

Yeah yeah, I know I should rather go and finish the first book than stalking other Buddy Read Tracker 😂 After sharing my enthusiasm and telling you that I like the idea of your 'personal tracker', I'm gone now :)

message 86: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2764 comments Haha well you'll have plenty of time to finish it over Easter hopefully. I fitted King of Thorns in around the 9th as I am going away for a few days then and should hopefully get a bit of reading in and catch up with the schedule. Really excited to get started on it!!

Yeah I thought I'd give my timetable idea a go. If nothing else it'll give me a clearer idea of how long I should really be leaving between the start of each buddy read. Now get back to Prince of Thorns ;-) and I hope you are enjoying the presents from your box as well.

message 87: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8724 comments I really like your personal schedule idea, Hailee. So organised!

message 88: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2764 comments Thanks Siobhan 😊

message 89: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments Thanks :) Sadly I have to work Saturday and Monday from 9am to 5pm... So I don't really have easter holidays. I hope you have a lot of fun on your trip 😁

I have only 100 pages left for Prince of Thornes, I just delay it a little to finish in April, because I intend to use it for a challenge :) It's not cheating, nooo 😂

Hailee | 2764 comments March Update

I'm please with what I read in March. I completed every buddy read I had put on my tracker and even managed to fit in Prince of Thorns at the last minute.

1st - Ready Player One 🌟🌟🌟(completed)
1st - Prince of Thorns 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟(completed)
5th - Crucible of Gold 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟(completed)
15th - Six of Crows🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (completed)
26th - The Lost Hero 🌟🌟🌟🌟(completed)

I also finished off my read of Valour 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟which I started in February and I've got through the majority of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

I hope everyone else is as pleased with what they read in March.

Hailee | 2764 comments Update for changes made to tracker

Unfortunately I had to scrap Embassytown from my schedule since I don't actually own it yet and I'm planning to tighten the purse strings over the next few months. And had to scrap Leviathan Wakes as I'm reluctant to start yet another massive series when I am committed to so many others. Its a shame but my schedule was looking a bit alarming. Especially since I want to try and finish Gardens of the Moon and A Plague of Giants in May as well. I have definitely learnt that it is better for me to underestimate what I can manage (and to be honest I still don't think I've managed that) than overestimate and put pressure on myself that will end up causing a slump.
