Jim (jimmaclachlan) Tracy, if you can get Jim Dale reading Harry Potter, it's great!!! I don't know if anyone else has read it, but I have the first few books read by him. He somehow managed to add to the story.

Check out your local library. Ours has audiobooks you can download.

Jim Dale is great, although I must say that I prefer Stephen Fry's narration... not sure if you're able to get them in the US or not, but if you can I recommend giving them a try.

Looks like Jim Dale is the only choice here at the local library though.

Ariadna | 5 comments I read in my car if I get really early to work, I read when I have to wait for somebody (that's sooo usual...), I read before going to bed...

message 56: by Harriet (new)

Harriet | 7 comments now - i read at night before sleep and if i wake up early. On holiday almost constantly.

When i was a child I read and did nothing else. At the breakfast I read the cereal packet.

I was brought up without a TV. My mum taught me to read almost as soon as I could talk because it was she liked to do. My teachers could not get me to do anything else at all.

Anita (dyfibelle) | 19 comments I carry a book round with me at all times, just in case there is a small gap during the day that I can delve into another life, in the car, while I'm waiting for boys at football and off course of an evening before bed. But my favourite time is if I'm lucky enough to be able to lie in, then I will make my self the first cuppa of the day and settle back in my warm bed for an hour of reading, bliss.

DROOD by Dan Simmons....It`s great(if you like Dickens and Collins)

Ladies I am having a meltdown(and Gentlemen, apologies)as I write this!I have just looked at the books that I want to read between now and Christmas and then unfortunately I made the mistake of looking at my schedule!!!It cannot be done, something has to go!
Can I change the name of John Grishams book SKIPPING CHRISTMAS to SKIPPING CHRISTMAS TO GIVE ME TIME TO READ!???

message 62: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) When kids are at school, weekends, evenings. When hubby leaves me to read (which is daily and mostly all the time lol)

message 63: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (showjumperpro) I read between classes at college; sometimes the period between classes can be an hour or so. I also read at home before/after dinner, and when I turn the horses out in the ring.

message 64: by Jak (new)

Jak (blindjak) I'd say 90% of my reading is done on my daily commute, which is an hour each way. Then it’s on my lunch when I have one and half an hour or so before bed if I’m not already knackerd.

message 65: by Haifa (new)

Haifa | 2 comments Generally, I don't have a specific time to read, but usually I read in the evening after studying and before bed.

message 66: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) I don't have a specific time I read either just whenever I have free time usually on the weekends.

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

I almost always read a good one to three hours in bed, usually because I am an insomniac and I can't fall asleep unless I do something to tire out my brain. I read in my free time in classes at school, sometimes when I come home from school in the afternoon, too.

message 68: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephaniex88) | 76 comments ^ Same. I have trouble sleeping so I read for a few hours in bed to tire out my brain and usually end up falling asleep with the book in my hand. I also read when I get the opportunity during the day and at the weekend.

message 69: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) I try to read as much as I can in the evenings, without being distracted by my husband or the tv. Some nights are better then others. And I read alot more on the weekends...sometimes over my lunch (but rarely because I spend my lunch on Goodreads :)

I SO wish I could be someone who requires less then 5 hours of sleep. I'd love to be able to stay up late and read...but I can't function the next day!

message 70: by Diane (last edited Nov 30, 2009 12:42PM) (new)

Diane (dianedj) My very favorite time to read is when I wake up in the morning and having my coffee. Either back under the covers in bed or in the big snuggly chair by the window in the living room. Trouble is that I have to go to work, so I can only do this 1 or 2 mornings a week, usually.

I will also read when I go to bed at night, but never can read too much then as I'm tired.

LOL Aths - I just became a member of this group last week. This is me, too, exactly. Every day I say I won't go on today from work...but ALAS!! here I am!

message 72: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) It sure does

message 73: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) During lunch, at night and on those rare afternoons when I have the house to myself and I can just dive into a book.

message 74: by Diane (new)

Diane (dianedj) So I always ALWAYS take a book with me everywhere I go. Except for last Saturday I was doing a mobile pet adoption so I knew I would not have a minute to spare so I left the book at home. End of day, a friend had a pretty bad fall (she is ok, thank goodness) but I took her to emergency and we were there for 4 hours....she getting tests, etc., and me... NO BOOK!! Lesson learned. Carry with me ALWAYS!!

message 75: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) lol...Diane...that always happens to me. I carry a book with me at ALL times...but the ONE time I don't...is always the one time I need it.

message 76: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) That sounds so typical, Diane. The same thing has happened to me before. Glad your friend is OK.
