Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I just finished Shattered Pillars. Will be a DNF series I guess because I just couldn't get into it. Anyway, it's my last book for 2017.

And I just started Truthwitch. In the mood for something light.

Janette | 211 comments I read the next two books in the Shades of Magic trilogy over Christmas which I really enjoyed. Then I read Thunderlord Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series is one of my all time favourite series. Thunderlord isn't quite the same as the original novels but still a good read.
I'm jealous of Monica reading the Riftwar series for the first time. The first books are fantastic. The original trilogy and the Empire trllogy are some of my favourite reads. Hope that you continue to enjoy them Monica.

Monica Davis Thanks, Janette. I just finished the third in the series...one more to go. Some delightfully colorful characters (Jimmy the Hand is my favorite) and interesting magic system/world building. I found that the individual stories strayed at points, to where I was hoping for more detail in some, but less in others. Overall, an enjoyable read.

I'll second the recommendation for the Daughter of the Empire trilogy in particular.

I'm going to read Magician and then the Empire series in January, after The Princess Bride. From these posts I'm really started to look forward to it.
