Don't know why people bother buying flags in the first place. England never wins anything!
I have to say that, before it started, I was thinking of supporting Germany. After their game against Portugal, I was fully supporting them. That game was tactically beautiful
Heather, US got to the top 16 :)Tatiana, that was a beautiful game! My favourite game was the very first one, because I watched it with the Brazilian exchange students at school, and they just went absolutely mental!
Why do you think I'm on here at the same time? :) Rugby is way more exciting! And they get properly injured, none of this fake falling over!!
It did make me laugh though when someone I know spent £100 on an England top the same day they got kicked out the competition.
Hahaha, I bet they were regretting that!! :P Have you noticed all the Brazilian shirts in the crowds when Brazil aren't even playing? They've obviously spent a lot on those shirts too
Tatiana, we're not good at all that many things, so we like to choose sports that aren't very popular, like rugby and netball :)
we have to watch a lot of rugby here. i've seen the new zealand team do the hakka so many times!
My dad and brother like to do it with the team, which is quite funny to watch :) There's the next World Cup next year I think, yay!
Luckily now that my brother is a bit older he's grown out of taking his shirt off, so my dad keeps his on too. That bit was not fun!!
Sarah wrote: "snap! I'm not sure it should ever really have sailed!"Ahaha! You so cannot say that until you live in Australia! We have zero soccer culture here (stupid football - well Aussie Rules or whatever to you guys - takes over and is absolutely massive so nobody plays soccer like at all) so our team never stood a chance! They were just shameful really!! Ahaha! :)
Oh, and I missed the final! :"( It was on at THREE AM this morning and I was not waiting up that late for it! I'll have to watch the replay later...
Sarah wrote: "we have to watch a lot of rugby here. i've seen the new zealand team do the hakka so many times!"Rugby is pretty huge over here in the east. Not where I live but Queensland and all that make a huge deal out of it. :) Not my type of sport though...
@Rachel, I was pretty sure Australia followed rugby almost as religiously as we do in New Zealand. How do you not watch it?? :)
Victoria wrote: "@Rachel, I was pretty sure Australia followed rugby almost as religiously as we do in New Zealand. How do you not watch it?? :)"Some states do, my doesn't thank goodness! I don't know but it really isn't a big deal in my state. I mean no offence but I just don't understand the point of it. You have to through the ball backwards to go forward. Just what!? I think I'll stick to soccer.
Okay Rachel, fair point. However, they score more, and they don't pretend to be injured all the time! (sorry I'm going to get quite defensive of our sport!)

That they do but honestly? That is one of the best parts, I think, of soccer. It isn't like football (my countries' football, Aussie Rules) where you just wait to see who gets the most points at the end of the game and then you have your winner. Those goals can be kicked from over 50m away and you get at least eight goals or more each team every game. Boring! In soccer you have to have the skills to get each and every goal. There are even plenty of games that no one scores at all. I like that it isn't about the scoring then, its about the game itself: the skill, the players, the goalies, the suspense of getting a goal or not... much more entertaining in my opinion! I agree though, a lot of players are pretty sissy when it comes to injuries. Some players do actually get injured pretty bad (what about that guy that broke his spine and was nearly crippled a couple of weeks ago!!!) but yes, too many of them are a bit overdramatic with shin kicks etc.
Okay, I think you win this battle :) Not because I agree with you, but because you're obviously incredibly passionate! When we watched Naymar get injured, my mums aid he should harden up and keep playing. She felt a bit guilty about that...

Ahaha! Lets just stick to our different sports and call it a draw then. :)
Oh, I can see why. I think we all we thinking along those lines until we found out how bad it actually was!! :)
Neymar is a diver, no denying that. When he went to play in Europe, he was very criticized for that. However, his lesion against Colombia was a bit more serious. There was also Ronaldo, some years ago, whose knee nearly imploded during a game. There was a joke here in Brazil about the miraculous water players drank. You see, they'd be writhing in pain (you'd think they were dying) and then, after having some water sprayed on them (and no foul called by the referee), they were completely fine! LOL
