Slytherins actually have only 8 steps between Common Room and Tickets (tickets being 9th). I had great luck of hitting couple of dead ends and loosing my wand (although I'm sure Shauna took it from me because I hexed her after she sent me back to step 1 for 5th time ☺)

Sadly you can't restrict/hide threads. Only whole group or nothing.

Nope. You can't. Or we wouldn't have to create new group (back room BRs) for tower teams. We've tried. All you can do with thread is to lock it (make it no comment).
GR isn't really big on 'hiding' things. I know people are asking for years to have private shelves or threads etc. and their response was secret groups.
