Great job everyone!!! We are almost done with our first spell out! AND only a few to go for the 2nd! We rock! At this rate, we may be able to get some letters in for a 3rd. Sunshine, since you finished both your books, will you be reading any more this week, or are you all read out? lol

Why don't you switch my characters to: Emily Mather "Discovery" & add George Chapman from "Shadow of Souls" -- that should finish out the 2nd read through.
I am now reading Murder With Puffins by Donna Andrews. MC's are Meg & Michael. So that would do D, A, and definitely M. lol.
Okay I made the changes. Did you mean "Shadow of Night", though? Or is Shadow of Souls a different book?
I think I'll be able to read the last book of my trilogy, The Reckoning, this week too. That would do for a R, A (for the author) or D.
Sunshine wrote: "I am now reading Murder With Puffins by Donna Andrews. MC's are Meg & Michael. So that would do D, A, and definitely M. lol."I put it down for M for now, but we can always move it if we need to. Thanks Sunshine!
Angel wrote: "I think I'll be able to read the last book of my trilogy, The Reckoning, this week too. That would do for a R, A (for the author) or D."Awesome! we are on a roll!!
Lilac, are you still planning on reading The Invention of Wings this week? If not, is there anything you are currently reading that will work for an "I"?
I just finished The Last Town...I'm now going to start The Rosie Project. For now I'm putting it as a D for the character Don Tillman.
❥☪LIZZ NEILL☪❥ wrote: "I have finished
7/15"Excellent Lizz!! Now we just need one more letter for our 1st spell out!
Finished my re-read of Shadow. Moving on to "Book of Life" so that should give us a D.I've decided that 500+ page books should get at least 2 letters! Lol!
Jaclyn wrote: "Lilac, are you still planning on reading The Invention of Wings this week? If not, is there anything you are currently reading that will work for an "I"?"Yes, I'll still be reading The Invention of Wings. I'll start it today as soon as I finish The Stranger, which unfortunately is too short to be counted for anything. But no, the other book I'm reading wouldn't work for "I" either.
Hi guys! I'm your newest team member. Just going to go through the thread now to catch up on the previous posts. Hope to have fun with this team :)
You guys are pretty much set on getting the entire spell-out done well ahead of time. Great going!Do you want me to read for any specific letter at the moment? I have a no. of books going on simultaneously (I'm kinda weird that way), so I can play catch-up on any letter.
If not, I'm planning to finish Only Time Will Tell this week, so that should work for A, M or D
Author: Jeffrey Archer
Characters: Maisie, Deakins
Glad you were able to catch up Sanz! Looks like spelling one and two are pretty well covered so we can apply you to our 3rd spelling, so right now you're good to read what you like and we can finagle. We probably moved through the first few spellings because everyone was so excited to start and then weekends. :)
And I have finished my Romanov book, so that's the M done. :) Looking to read the The Cousins' War books by Philippa Gregory, but I realized I don't really know much about the War of the Roses, so of course before I can read those books I'm going to read The Wars of the Roses by Alison Weir. With "characters" like Margaret of Anjou, Richard of York, Edward IV, and probably quite a few others that will fit in our letters nicely, so I'm sure we can see what is needed and it will elbow it's way in there. ;) It's about 450 pages so I should be able to finish that and then another book this round. I'll see how we are doing on our 3rd spelling before I plan that.
Here's the thing, I found myself not enjoying the first two nearly as much on the re-reads as I did the first time. The characters got a my nerves quite a bit. I originally rated them 4 stars, but I'd be hard pressed not to drop it to a 3 if asked to rate them now.The third installment was action packed and mostly tied up all the loose ends. It was cleverly done. Quite a different pace than the others.
I'd give it a solid 3 1/2 stars. It might truthfully rank higher if I hadn't re-read the first two & my lingering irritations hadn't been at the forefront while reading.
I don't really know why they irritated so much with this read, guess it's really all about timing and where you are when you read something as to how it affects you. And for whatever reason, I just wasn't in sync with it right now.
I don't want to discourage anybody though! It really did have a lot of action & it did tie up most of the story.
That can happen. I tried reading Sanderson's The Way of Kings 2 times and the first time it was too heavy for how I was feeling and the second time I wasn't really in the mood for Epic Fantasy. I felt bad for dropping him twice when I knew I would love them in the right situation, and sure enough, third time I was in the right mood and plowed through, finishing in a day and a half. At that point the second book was out and I jumped right in and blew through that one too. Sometimes you just don't click that day.
Hey guys! Sorry I've been MIA today. I had to take my son to his toddler music class, and when I got home, Goodreads was down! NOOOOOOOOO!! Now that I'm here, let me go back and catch up on posts...
Okay, I think I'm caught up. I hope I didn't miss anything. First off, Welcome Sanz!!! Glad you could join us! For now, I have you down for Only Time Will Tell, and I put it under D for the 3rd spelling. Like Heather said, we're pretty flexible at this point. I can't believe how far we've gotten so quickly! :)I think I updated post #10 correctly with everyone's finished reads and current reads. Let me know if I've made an error.
Shannon-I agree...those huge books should definitely be worth more! lol As for your re-reads, I know what you mean about having to be in the right frame of mind when reading a book, or just how the timing can influence how you feel about it. I normally don't abandon books, but there was one I had abandoned a few years ago, I just could not get into it. When I picked it up this year, I loved it. So yeah, I think our frame of mind has a lot to do with it sometimes.
Again, I hope I didn't miss anything. Hope everyone is having a good week and are enjoying their books!
Sanz, do you have a bookshelf for this challenge? I couldn't find it on your page, but I could have missed it. If you have it already, or when you make it, can you let me know what it's called? That way I can link you into the post. Thanks!
If we switch Jaclyn's "Iggy" with Lilac's "Invention", we've actually finished the first spell-it-out! Yay us!!
With what we have done right now at this point we are looking at 245 points, and with what people have signed up for 305. We are coming along great everyone!
❥☪LIZZ NEILL☪❥ wrote: "I am loving Deadtown. I can't put it down lol"That's great Lizz! I love when that happens!
Angel wrote: "I'm finished with the awakening! For The Reckoning, what letter will we use? R or d?"
How about we go with R...we can always change it later. Thanks, Angel!
Heather wrote: "And I have finished my Romanov book, so that's the M done. :) Looking to read the The Cousins' War books by Philippa Gregory, but I realized I don't really know much about the War of the Roses, so ..."I started Phillippa Gregory's series also. Just FYI, you may already know this, but Gregory writes her books out of chronological order, so Goodreads has them out of order also. If you want to read them chronologically, Gregory has the correct order on her website and it's also on her wikipedia page. I know Lady of the Rivers is #1 (goodreads has it as #3)...
Jaclyn wrote: "Sanz, do you have a bookshelf for this challenge? I couldn't find it on your page, but I could have missed it. If you have it already, or when you make it, can you let me know what it's called? Th..."Hi, just created a shelf called "wheel-a-thon" for this challenge.
I finished The Rosie Project and am now starting on:A Dark Mind (Lizzy Gardner series)
by T. R. Ragan
Characters: Lizzy Gardner...
So far It can work for D, L, R, or G.
Shannon, please add the date read to Emperor's Blades and the 3 All Souls Books. I think everything is looking good guys!!
We have a little over 24 hours before we have to post our results. So, if everyone can please try to finish your current books (that i have you down for) and update in here an hour before the deadline, that would really help. That way I can add everything to the list and have it ready to submit on time.
Lilac wrote: "Not quite worn out here! Finished The Invention of Wings now :)"Great, thanks Lilac!! That completes our 1st and 2nd spell outs!! :)
Shannon wrote: "Added the dates.Sorry! I've been binge watching "Downton Abbey" & getting lots of stuff done."
Thanks Shannon! I've been meaning to start watching that show. Is I as good as I hear it is? I hear ya about getting stuff done. I've been doing the same and haven't read as much the past few days. I really need to hustle and I ish this last book!!!
Personally, I love Downton abbey. It's really great. Sadly I haven't had the time yet to catch up with the last season.
I'm only on Season 2 but really enjoying it!Found myself caught up in back to school prep once I realized we've only got a few weeks left!
