Virginia Woolf's commentary on Jane Austen. It is Persuasion centered.

Persuasion is my favorite Austen, but I won't have time for a re-read this month. Wish I could though, after reading this article. It points out some of the reasons I think it is my favorite. Thanks for posting it, Charlene.
I definitely noticed a bit of a change in the speeches on her characters. At the beginning of the book when she's describing Anne's family they seem more pigeon-holed than in her other works, almost like she's resigned herself to the stupidity of some of her characters. She seems harsher than in other works like P&P (it's been awhile since I read it though so maybe I'm misremembering).
Anne seems all the better simply because she is contrasted with such silly relations in the beginning of the book.
