AshlynH2 Percy Jackson was excited to go to the beach with his mom.  But it doesn’t last long.  His friend Grover comes knocking on their door warning them that the thing is right behind him.  They start driving to a so called Camp Half-Blood.  What is happening?  Is he in danger?

Character
Percy Jackson is only in 6th grade.  He has shaggy brown hair, with seaweed green eyes just like his dad. But he’s not any ordinary trouble maker.  He is half god.  His dad is Poseidon, god of the Ocean.  Percy Jackson is a really cool dude.  He can go underwater and stay dry, along with anything he is touching.  He can go under as far as he wants without getting crushed.  He can even breath underwater.  But that’s not all he can do.  He is one of the best sword fighters at Camp Half-Blood, and can kill just about any monster with the help of Annabeth.  He can even control water.  He lives at Camp Half-Blood during the summer and goes back to live with his mom during the school year.  He is one of the top people at Camp.  He is a very kind person that loves his friends, and would never leave one of them behind.  He is the only child of the “Big Three” alive, so everybody looks up to him.  But Percy is also a trouble maker.  He had ADHD, and ADD.  He has been kicked out of every school he has ever been to.  None of his teachers ever like him, and he always gets bad grades.  But other than that he is a great kid.

Setting
The main setting of the book is the United States.  After Percy gets to Camp he receives a quest. He takes Annabeth and Grover with him.  They start their journey at Camp.  A very lush forest right on the beach of long island.  They have a little lake, a big house, and 12 little cabins.  They have big strawberry fields, filled with big plump, juicy strawberries.  The group then goes through the big city of New York.  It has big skyscrapers, and is just like any big city.  They then make a stop in St Louis, where Percy blows a big hole in the side of the Gateway Arch.  St Louis is also a big city.  With big tall buildings and very confusing.  Their next stop was Denver, they met the god Ares there and ran a little errand for him.  Denver is a smaller city, and clean.  Las Vegas was next.  They stayed in a super awesome hotel called the Lotus Hotel.  It had floors of games and big open rooms, with clean beds and showers.  They thought they only stayed there for a few hours, but it turned out to be like 3 days.  They then went all the way to Los Angeles.  A big very confusing city, with lots of people, and traffic.  Next stop, the underworld. A very dark and depressing place.  They are the only alive things down there.  It has fruit growing down there but it is a very dark evil fruit.  Down there they meet the god Hades, and lots of other evil things.  They then find there way back to Camp Half-Bood.

Opinion
This book is a very fast moving book. It kept my brain busy for hours at a time.  It has lots of adventure, and fighting.  This book is awesome. I can’t wait to read the next four books!  I would recommend this book to anyone, any day of the week.  So if you are ever looking for a very fun awesome book, read Percy Jackson, and The Lightning Thief.
