A Pocketful of Crows
question
Can someone explain the ending?

I just finished reading A Pocketful of Crows and the ending has me confused.
Why was the white-headed crow in the form of Fiona, why did the hawthorn take the baby and how did it all fit together?
Was I the only one left confused by the last couple of pages?

I was as well. I enjoyed the story but the ending left me puzzled. The concept of life continuing on through the travelers made sense to me, but Fiona was a girl of the Folk in the story... not brown and wild but Tamed and named and virtuous (at least at first). And the travellers don’t slip into the Folks bodies as they have souls so how did a named, tamed, raised girl come to be the white headed crow? There seems to be some conflicting segments in the writing...
