Thank you! It sounds interesting.

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments I know SS... I love a Beauty and the Beast story. I have several in my TBR pile and look forward to reading this one. Hope you like it.

message 106: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments Yeah, I just finished it. Gave it 4 stars.

message 107: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments Oh... Debbie... wonderful to hear. I haven't gotten to it yet. I am in the middle of a Linda Wells book and it is sooo long. I had to be out and about yesterday and didn't get to read anything until that evening when I checked my email and the updates on the WIPs I am following. Whew, I am too old to shop until you drop. I was with someone else and we shopped for wedding and baby shower gifts... it is the season... I am exhausted.

message 108: by Debbie (last edited Apr 06, 2018 05:58AM) (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments I'm still mostly homebound except for PT and doo wop performances (which I sit my way through and then sleep most of the following day). The situation lends itself to a lot of reading!

The Beast of Bath: A Regency Fairytale isn't long at all, so once you get to it, you'll get through it quickly.

message 109: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments Glad you are able to do your performances... even if you have to sit... that is something to look forward to and we know how you love that. Great that you PT progress is doing so well. Hang in there... soon they will do the other side and you will have a new spring in your step.

message 110: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments Yep. July 9. Just last week, we scheduled the second one. So maybe sometime in the fall my step will be springing.

Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments Just finished The Wrong Envelope a couple of days ago and finally got my review up this morning. Can't recommend it highly enough to you all. It really touched me. There's recognizable P&P influence, since the hero pisses off the heroine big time in the very first chapter before they officially "meet."

message 112: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments DH and I just watched the movie The Inheritance based on Louisa May Alcott's The Inheritance.

Looooved it! It's certainly a much later setting, but it had so many elments I love about JA movie adaptations. The MC is sort of a Jane Fairfax type, and the father is sort of a Mr, Bennet type.

I can't recommend it enough. :-D :-D :-D :-D

message 113: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments Mistaken Kiss by Kathleen Baldwin is free today (Friday). I really like this author.

If I remember correctly, this is a Regency tale, but it's been a long time. Kathleen Baldwin can make me laugh. :-)

message 114: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments Marlene ,was it the 1997 movie that you saw? If so... I LOVE that version even if it is a bit off from the book. The movie softened the more harsh areas in the book. However, the acting of the MC brought out such goodness... I was totally amazed. I loved her.

message 115: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments Yes! Is there more than one version?

message 116: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments I really was delighted. It felt an L.M. Montgomery story, whose style I adore. 😊

message 117: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments I don't think so... I was just verifying the date in case you had something different. The best part of the movie was the relationship of the father with his ward. He was so delighted with her and his realization [when he found the papers] at their true relationship was so touching. I love that part.

message 118: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments He has all the goodness of Mr. Bennet without the cynicism - and I loved that he loved the girl. The actress hasn't been in much. If love to see her in other things. She reminded me of one of the actresses who played Jane Eye.

message 119: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments She was so good in that role. I was also amazed at a very young Thomas Gibson... I had never seen him smile before. On Criminal Minds he was always so stern. You may not watch that... I had to leave it off as it became too much for me and I couldn't take it any longer. Criminal profiling... getting into the head of a criminal was too much.

message 120: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments I'm not familiar with it. Don't watch too much TV because my helper folds almost all our clothes. And I'd rather read. 😊. I am often disappointed by not being able to see favorite actors in other movies/shows due to content I'm not willing to watch. 😞

message 121: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments But fortunately my favorite - Emma Thompson - has lots of good stuff. 😊

Book one is also still free at this time. The Rogue

message 124: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 1246 comments Thanks, Jeanne! I snagged 'em both!

message 125: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments I looked at this author on My Book Ratings -- first time I've ever remembered to do this - to see if her books are rated, and they're marked as "adult." I'm bummed! Such promising covers!

message 126: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments Sorry Marlene... I haven't gotten to them yet in order to rate them. I've run into a batch of freebies and it has clogged up my TBR pile. But... I'll get there.

message 127: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments Oh, no problem, JW!!!! I just decided not to grab them because of that rating. But the covers look so sweet, I thought they might be! 😊

message 128: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 307 comments Can't claim it's good, as I still haven't read this author, but several people I've trusted have given her high reviews.

The Forgotten Wife by Bree Wolf is available for free here:

https://claims.instafreebie.com/gg/M5...

There's another free Bree Wolf story here also.

Marlene | 307 comments A favorite book of mine is on sale for 99 cents. I don't give many 5 star ratings because I don't round up, but this was a 5 star read for me. It's a Christian romance with some suspense/action at the end, set shortly after the War Between the States.

An Uncommon Protector by Shelley Shepard Gray

message 130: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea | 10 comments The Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde is on sale. It’s a fun series that involves a character who can jump into books, so there are a ton of different literary references

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/kindle/se...

message 131: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) The Thursday Next series is tons of fun! (Especially the second volume in the series.) It can be disorienting for English majors at first, though—that’s not how the story of Jane Eyre goes, is it??

message 132: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Just finished rereading D. E. Stevenson’s Miss Buncle's Book. If you’re in the mood for cozy, you should find it a pleasant escape. Here’s my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Oooh, very nice stack there, Jeanne. I think I have that Seton on my Kindle. I'm looking forward to it.

Cool, a K-9 story. I'm a sucker for those.

message 142: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments Thanks Sophia, I have several K-9 stories in my TBR pile. I hope to get to them. I'm waiting for a sale on Seton. I liked that first book and I'm waiting on a price drop on the others. That K-9 story by Kelly was not up to her usual writing, but it was cute.

I recently read a dog rescue story by Debbie BurnsSit, Stay, Love you might enjoy. :)

And, with Seton, some times boxed sets with her books in them go free so you would watch those, too (even if you don't want the other stories).
