Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Your gophering is awesome, Lisa! I got gophering burnout in the 2016 challenge. I don't even feel like gophering for 2018 yet. I am reading threads and noting where book titles are placed though, especially for books that I own and want to read. Your thread just gave me a slot for Racing in the Rain, which I did't get to this year.

Thanks, Cherie. I had planned on spreading my gophering out over the coming days but then I got quite into it and was enjoying doing it, so I thought I would just knuckle down and get it all done. It feels nice to have completed it. Glad I could help you find a slot for The Art of Racing in the Rain. I will look forward to seeing your gophering once it's done 🙂

Margo | 11675 comments Wow, you've been busy. I didn't realise we can incude a book for "month". My reading is so slow it will take me a month just to get through the rules and regs lol

What Peggy said. Impressive! That must have taken you hours. My gophering efforts took me all morning and I haven't found books for every task. Good on you! You have some great books listed too.

Margo | 11675 comments Did you change the name of your thread Lisa or did I just not notice the coolness of it before??

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Margo wrote: "Did you change the name of your thread Lisa or did I just not notice the coolness of it before??"

I changed it, Margo. I couldn't really think what to name it when I set up my thread so I just went with the first thing that came into my head, which was "Lisa's Mystical Zodiac Tour". This other name came to me yesterday when that 'Star Trekkin' song popped into my head so I changed it to play on that a bit. I'm going use that song as my theme tune 😉

Thanks, Sarah! Yes, it did take me a while and I had to stop a couple of times along the way and have a break. It was fun though.

I used to do that too.It may take months but I would finish it somehow. But nowadays I don't bother either. Some books are just not for you.

I am aiming for 12 books too.Hopefully all those will reduce my TBR(which keeps increasing).

Hope you get to read all 36 Cody.Good luck!

Sarah | 18550 comments I used to love that song as a kid. I remember it being played at the school disco!!! I have never seen the video for it before so that was fun!

message 72: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11675 comments I hadn't seen the vidoe before either. I love those little creatures too! Its funny - i often sing when i'm pottering around the house and that has always been one of my songs! I get the words wrong a lot so i just make up my own ;-P

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19222 comments Oh a nice Rage film clip there. Rage is on ABC every weekend night from midnight/1am to 9am/11am the next day. Most of our teenage years involved watching Rage on a Saturday morning (including this film clip), and most of our 18-20s was watching it after you came home at 4am.

Both Lexx and i started singing, and he was watching tv with headphones and it permeated through.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I have made a start on two books for this challenge:

Wideacre Wideacre (Wideacre, #1) by Philippa Gregory for Aries-Opal- Read a book set between 1750 and 1850.

Court of Lions Court of Lions by Jane Johnson for Libra- Azurite- Read a book set during the Renaissance period from 1400-1700.

message 78: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11675 comments I'm thinking either Wideacre of Belgravia for that one Lisa. I read Wideacre 23 years ago and loved it. I'm nearly afraid to re-read in case it doesn't live up to my memories ;-)

Is it one of your favourite Philippa Gregory novels, Margo? It's my first time reading it and I like it so far but I certainly don't love it. I'm only 100 pages in though so my opinions could of course change.

message 80: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11675 comments My very favorite was The Wise Woman, again i am talking 23 years ago! Wideacre was the first Gregory I read and I liked the series very much - possibly the third book was my least favorite.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I put Court of Lions back on my TBR for now (long story) and I have instead started The Iron King. I'm using it for the Cancer - Crab task.

That's good to hear, Mariab. I'm enjoying the first book very much. I'm finding the writing a bit stilted at times and it doesn't always flow as well as it could, but I think that could be down to the translation. Apart from that, it's really good.

Mariab | 3059 comments Lisa wrote: "I'm enjoying the first book very much. I'm finding the writing a bit stilted at times and it doesn't always flow as well as it could..."

Yes, but the book is some old.. (first published 1955...), hence the stilted style, I think

message 92: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Janice wrote: "Awesome! How did you like your first book?"

It was quite good. I gave it 3 stars. It's a pretty dark, messed up story and the main character is not a person you particularly like based on what she gets up to. I have never been the biggest fan of Philippa Gregory but this is the best book I have read by her so far, tied with Earthly Joys which I read before xmas.

message 93: by Janice, Moderator (last edited Jan 27, 2018 08:20AM) (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60103 comments I only have her book The White Queen shelved, but I'm sure I've read more of her books when I was in my 20's or 30's. I just don't remember which ones.

message 94: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Second book completed:

Badge 1, Book 2
Task - Cancer, Symbols (Crab)
The Iron King The Iron King (The Accursed Kings, #1) by Maurice Druon by Maurice Druon
Has the word "King" in the title
★★★★

I abandoned The White Queen. I absolutely hated it. I faired slightly better with The Other Boleyn Girl and The White Princess in that I did actually finish them, but I only gave them 2 stars.

message 96: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60103 comments That's why I've only read the one book. I must have had quite different tastes when I was younger.

message 97: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11675 comments LOL I loved Gregory in my 20's and I am still enjoying her! Guess I never grew up ;-D
