So overall excitement about this book? How did it meet your expectations and how was it different from what you expected

Morgan Rondinelli | 16 comments Mod
Overall, I enjoyed it immensely! It exceeded my expectations with how OCD was depicted.

Same! I was expecting the humor and the brilliance that I consider John to be but I did not expect him to fully disclose the reality of OCD with such perfection

What is one of your favorite quotes on ocd?

I really liked the tunnel metaphor. You?

Epifania Rita Gallina | 33 comments Mod
"The thing about a spiral is, if you follow it inward, it never actually ends. It just keeps tightening, infinitely." Love this because it shows how intrusive and debilitating ocd can be.

Something else I really liked was calling intrusive thoughts invasives. It was a funny misunderstanding but all too true.

I really..

I loved that too and it kind of gave her a way to make sense of them even more. What did you think of her therapist?

Morgan Rondinelli | 16 comments Mod
Hmm... I reallllllly wish she had pushed more about doing ERP. Though, I thought she gave good advice.

Yeah she was kind of trying to guide her but giving a little too much freedom and gaps in between. I feel like depending on how long she was seeing her that it was too much freedom. Like Aza is clearly severe so she needed a bit more pushing of course while giving freedom because you can't just force erp but still.. what did you think of Aza's ocd? It made me so sad,, also the hand sanitizer... 0.0

What did you think about the other characters? Did you have a favorite or least favorite?

I liked everyone really. Daisy could have been a bit more understanding at times but everyone was pretty cool and spoilers for those who are reading but I wanted her relationship to continue lol

Morgan Rondinelli | 16 comments Mod
Oh same. I wish they would have stayed together. Daisy annoyed me a lot because she wasn't very supportive.

Yeah! What do you think about overall plot? I was impressed. I was worried it would bore me a little but I found it to be profound

Okay, to be honest I didn't like the plots of other John Green books, but this one I loved! I appreciated that it was ya+a mystery. All the Sherlock references were awesome.

Epifania Rita Gallina | 33 comments Mod
Yes! I wasn't a huge fan of the Looking for Alaska plot but loved the others, Fault mostly, but yes this was definitely much more intriguing.

I really loved it! There were several times I was like, "Yes!" because the quotes were so beautiful. What was your favorite?

Epifania Rita Gallina | 33 comments Mod
Yes mostly the grand explanations of how she was feeling and how her inner world worked. I really think this book is a great representation both for sufferers, professionals, and readers in general. I will probably give it a re read in the future.

Agreed it's one I'll have to read again in a few months.

Epifania Rita Gallina | 33 comments Mod
Yup! It was great discussing this ! If anyone has any questions please ask!

Cassie | 1 comments Overall I agree that it was really realistic. I kind of wish there had been a little more about ERP and what her treatment in the end actually was since it kind of skimmed over that part. How did you feel about that?

Epifania Rita Gallina | 33 comments Mod
Totally agree with that. It was more about the overall plot of the story but I guess he couldn’t focus on it too long and rather integrated them. I would definitely like to ask John more about that
