That still doesn't change the fact that I'm very hesitant to delete items from GR (as opposed to merging into a valid edition) and deleting the reviews and shelvings.

Claire, can you please confirm that this cover Swimming Lessons was never used on any copy -- including Advanced Reader Copies, either print or electronic.

No, it was never used either electronically or print. It was an early design which Penguin then rejected. Thanks!

And this seems a different book as it didn't have any recent changes by you. Well, it seems to be a duplicate Kindle edition anyway; merged. The one with the ASIN in the isbn field was Senseless; also merged the duplicate Kindle edition for that book.

(I hope this request is correct. The former is labeled "audio cd", but, so far as I could find, there never was such an edition. When I separated it out, the only rating is that of its creator, and her edition gives no further information. Amazon.com lists no audio edition other than audible audio, nor do the 3 major amazon sites overseas that I checked. So it seems likely Gretchen listened to the audible edition 5 months after it became available.)

I sent another note to the Goodreads support. This is the 3rd one. I just want the book deleted. I haven't released it like planned and not sure when I will, and when I do it won't be the same book. From everything I'm told by a regular librarian I need a Super Librarian to delete it. Thank you in advance for your help.
Super Librarians are volunteers just like ordinary librarians. Not sure they'd want to go against staff. For anything not published they always advise contacting support.
#536 Merge not required. Converted the "empty" record to an Audible Audio edition, ASIN B00SUPD658, with information from Amazon.uk. Recombined with the other editions.As a note: separating an edition for merging with another edition that is not the default is a two-step task. First: separate both editions. Second: combine those two editions. You can accomplish this task in one step by using the Separate tool. A book standing alone cannot be merged; it must be paired with the book with which it is to be merged.

In addition, according to its cover, People of the World is in fact a "revised and updated edition of 'National Geographic Book of Peoples of the World,' including all-new material." Proving non-existence is almost impossible, logically.
So anyone can create as a "placeholder" any book they imagine an author might write, and it must stand forever, or until the author dies, even if she never returns to the series.
There is no title, no date, no citation that the book is scheduled. Someone just incremented the number of the last actual book, then gave this imaginary book a 5/5 rating.
Now the series page https://www.goodreads.com/series/9599...
says "Stoker & Holmes Series (5 books)" which is untrue.
It should not say 5 unless there actually are 5.
None of the author's three other series have such placeholders, though most of them probably will have new entries some time in the future.
Every series of books by any author could have an unborn "placeholder" member by this rule.
