Hi, my name's Rob, and my first novel, "Monkey Arkwright", will be released on Amazon Kindle on 29th November.
Although I mostly read fantasy and thrillers, my book is a Young Adult mystery, inspired by those adventure films from the 80s - "Stand By Me" and "The Goonies" being good reference points. But in addition to this idea, I wanted to have a couple of protagonists who were struggling with something in their lives, so at the same time as solving the mystery, they were battling everyday problems as well. Finally, I love interesting characters, and I hope that I've created a good set of both main and supporting characters that will keep people entertained.
I came up with so many ideas around the central core of the mystery(which I won't give away here), that I am planning the second and third books in the series to make the "Wardens of the Black Heart" trilogy.
I've loved the whole process of writing and editing my book. I have modest expectations - if I could sell 200 and get a few reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, I'd be over the moon.
Hopefully I'll be able to help others out who are in a similar position.
I've set up a website for the book and have an active blog which provides lots more details.
